Hunter shoots self in foot

On Tuesday (12/2) shortly after 5:00 p.m. the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and Phelps Ambulance responded to 1318 Mott Road in the Town of Phelps for a male who have had been shot in the foot.

Upon arrival it was discovered Justin J. Vancamp, age 25, of 1339 Mott Road in Phelps sustained a gun shot wound to his right foot from a 12 gauge shotgun while hunting in an orchard nearby.

Vancamp was able to get back to his vehicle and drive a short distance to a relative’s home. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for further treatment by ambulance.

The NYS DEC responded to the scene, and will be completing the rest of the investigation.

almost did that a long time ago, just shot a doe at a buddies, lowered the rifle, holding it by the grip, with my finger still in the trigger guard, weight of the gun pulls the trigger again and BOOM!!!! scared me to death, got lucky and walked away uninjured, you can bet I never did it again
