walter sobcheck
I was talking to my old high school football coach today and he told me that he's had good success hunting small game especially cottontails on a large chunk of state land near Cambridge. He hadn't been in a couple of years and couldn't remember the name of the WMU or exactly where it was. Has anyone had good success with rabbits in any particular patch of state land in the Cambridge area? VT Outfitter
I have pretty good success with cottontail and some hare 20 minutes north of Granville NY in the Benson VT area. Not much in the way of state land due to the lack of forest clearing to create new habitat. I run my guided trips with beagles on private land exclusively as that's where the brush thickets and young softwoods are from forest clearing work. I would say try to find some 7-12 year old chopping in the Cambridge area after a fresh snow and see whats in the area. Good luck!

walter sobcheck
Thanks. Are both of them fully open to hunting or just parts of the land open for hunting? Looking on the DEC website and I can't find any info on that.
WingNut
Both are state lands fully open to hunting. Check out the DEC mapper. Both are well marked as far as signage goes. Also they are very Ise to each other.
