Politics is what politicians do to get you to vote for them.

 

Voting is what you do to tell politicians what you want from them.

 

They are two distinctly different things.  If you don't vote, elected officials know you don't care what they do and they do what is best for them, not their constituents.  This is why we have horrible gun laws.  Too many pro 2nd Amendment gun owners don't vote and the politicians feel they don't care about their 2nd Amendment rights.  If you do not vote, I have to agree with them.

I would think around $20k or more if I had to guess. Mine are over $15K (before STAR) and my house is barely 2k sqft

Yea, down here it's about school districts. You could have taxes lower than yours or up near $30k depending on the school district your in. Also, my inground pool doesn't help. My neighbors without pools are about $2k less in taxes. If I decide not to have kids I definitely won't stay here long term. I'd move to a lesser school district.

Anybody get their checks this year? I didn't get one yet. Thought I read they were sent out in September....
