The_Real_TCIII
What are you judging for on your potatoes? Yield, biggest, appearance? What variety? Feed them nitrogen up until the blossom's fall off them, after that they like potassium. Trust me speaking from lots of experience.i think judging is on all of those things, I'll ask my neighbor what type since she issued them to us. I planted them in the miracle gro potting mix so I may have painted myself into a corner since it contains fertilizer?

growalot
Yes I actually do believe in jinx's...Only because when warning family members of things or mentioning stuff as questions...they always reply DON'T JINX ME!...then blame me later...lol So here I go ...The sweet corn plot JUST started popping up...talk about slow seed!...yes sections are gone from the birds...but I planted the seed 4" apart so they didn't manage to get it all...checked back I planted it 1" deep Mid June. The corn I replaced in the garden is up several inches...The bird netting worked. Though swt corn plot is now competing with lambs quarter...I refuse to weed it just yet. I'm hoping the weeds hide it from the robins and turkey...which love pulling plants until it hits the stage they don't like..jinxed,hope not. What a game this is. Mr B use to say why don't your gardens do as well as they did in Avon...Oh how I miss the back yard garden, nearly no bugs,no animals and no birds. I could have fed 4 families from a garden one 6th the size of the one I have now....He has watched the birds snipping plants and digging seed as he drives by...So stopped asking why. What a game it is...good thing I'm competitive by nature....
