Bowguy 1
In July We started a women's archery program n while many did very well one went full bore. Shelley had never shot a bow before n took everything to heart. We started her w string bows than progressed to Genesis bows. We taught her in the Nasp format which emphasizes form. 2 weeks before the first hunter Ed class she asked if it was possible to be ready. I gave here private lessons n she got a bow a week before the class. On the deck shooting she did so well people were high fiving her. Tonight was her first hunt. I dropped her off after assembling treestand to tree n making sure she was up safely. By the time I got to the next ridge n locked in she was texting a buck was under her. In nj early season you must shoot a doe first n she had to pass. It stayed for 1/2 hr. Shortly after it left I passed some does as Id taken mine n they were headed her way. She saw them n for the next few hours hardly 10 mins passed without her having deer nearby or under but never giving her a good angle. She ended up seeing many many deer, 2 bucks n even had her bow drawn back but before she shot the deer turned bad so she passed. Overall a great night n she's hooked. She couldn't believe the shakes she got from being so close. Nights like tonight are why we do it. I'm proud of her ability n discretion in passing marginal shots n glad she signed up for women's archery program. She is too. Hopefully next post has her standing over her first deer at 49 years young. Mentor a kid or newby itll make your season even more enjoyable Edited September 16, 2016 by Bowguy 1
