I got an email from the NYS Fair today.  Something new they are adding is a bass tournament on August 27th.  Subsequently they are offering this,

 

Admission to the Fair on Aug. 27 is free for those who show a valid sporting license at the gate. Attendees are also encouraged to stop by the DEC Pavilion to purchase their hunting or fishing license. Anyone who buys a sporting license at the fair will be automatically entered into a random drawing to win a Great New York State Fair lifetime pass.  

It happens to be the day we are going.  My whole family will get in for free!!!!!!!
