This bill would authorizes children 10 years of age or older to load and fire a rifle, shotgun or pistol at a shooting range while under the supervision of a qualified person; increases from 18 to 21 years of age the minimum age of a person who may be designated in writing by the parent or guardian of a child to supervise such child while he or she is shooting.

 ·       So an 18 year old is qualified to handle all kinds of real assault weapons in the military and in combat, but not qualified to supervise a 10 year old shooting a .22 rifle?

 ·       Will someone between the ages of 10 to 20 years and 364 days old need a 21+ year old to supervise them at the shooting range and while hunting?

 ·       How is this law going to control gun violence?

What are the rules currently for a kid to shoot a pistol? I thought NY you weren't allowed to shoot one unless you had a permit. Or is that only for people over 18?
