Is it me or is that scope mounted half way down the barrel? I get that you don't need a red dot close to your eye...just seems like that setup would feel real unbalanced.

Depends on the moa.  The closer to eye the bigger the dot.  I’m / were about to mount Burris fastfire 3 far forward   Smaller dot that way convering less bird.
