hb270deermanager
I am writing in regard to the artical about deer populations in N.Y. We as deer managers must all do our part to help out our states deer herd. If anyone reads this artical please bear in mind that to many take it for granted that we just have to hunt them.I am a firm believer in Q.D.M.A.I have been practicing this for over 15 yrs now.Working food plots making better habitat and letting the younger deer (not just bucks) mature abit. Alot of hunters in my area are catching on to it. stopping Illegal taking of deer watching predator popul- ations and watching the deer for desease is im- portant.Theres still not enough people willing to commit to helping our deer herds.Ya we pay alot for our liciences but we can do more to srengthen our deer herds and help them.Deer are prone to cycles just like foods sources,Habitat, predators, etc.We could at any time start to see a down cycle in some parts its already happened. So instead of crying about the problems when they happen see what you can do to help the situation. If anything it will make you feel better about what your doin in oct, nov, and dec I know I do.Heres a casein piont in the town of clarkstown 100 deer were found dead the citys D.E.P. found that they had epizootic hemorrhagic desease.Predator populations rising is a big concern also.Heres a link www.ny.gov- /press/76929.html.will tell you more.
