Birds in 4 zone?

I've been hunting in 4Y/4T mostly hudson area since 2003 and I've seen one grouse once when I was walking out from my stand during bow season last year. Is it just me or are upland birds non-existent here?!?!?! Rabbits are few and far between also. Is it just where I am located or is this are generally known for this?

You need foresting to open up those mature woods to keep grouse around.

I live right across the river from Hudson. Been here all my life. As the coyote and fox population goes up, grouse population goes down. Their use to be alot of grouse around, even native pheasants. Now there's very few grouse and no pheasants....
