Suilleabhain
Set my string in the garage a couple of weeks ago. Mice were bad last year. Wife had the bright idea to hire an exterminator over my tried and true Victors. So last year, $750 lighter and my traps caught the mice, his did zero. And, news to me, exterminators can't put bait in a mouse trap. He did give me some good info though. Said once a week or so a scout will come and check out the place. If you get him, the main herd won't show. This season I set a mine field of traps around my garage door. So far got six and they are coming once a week like he said. A single scout. Wonder what the pelts are worth.
WNYBuckHunter
We get a ton of mice as well. What has worked best for me is a 5 gallon bucket with a piece of PVC across the top and a 2x4 going from the floor to the PVC. Then I put about 3 inches of antifreeze in it. The mice love the sweet smell, crawl up the 2x4 and onto the PVC. When the start sniffing and looking down at the antifreeze, they slip off and fall in. Youll want to check it every couple of days and get rid of the dead ones. Dont just throw them where other animals can get to them though, and dont do this in areas where you have little kids, dogs or cats. I put one in the basement and one in the garage. I also put out some of those D-Con poison baits in the attic, basement and garage. Works for me.
Suilleabhain
So that's why we had them drown in the toilet at my club? They were after the antifreeze when we shut the house down. Thanks for that, my friend used a paint roller with PVC over a water bucket & that worked too.
WNYBuckHunter
Yep, they love that antifreeze until they get a taste.

Suilleabhain
I'll be there until Tuesday. My brother lives near there & I can hunt his neighbor's land. Nice country out there. Benn hunting it since 2002 & still haven't taken a buck, all does. They are there, I see them in the fields & had a shot at a nice deer but it was a tad too long for my muzzleloader so I passed. Fellow that bow hunts the same piece took a 9-pt last week and he's been consistent over the past few years. Frustrating but I'm filling the freezer fairly well.
