Turkey or escaped peacock

Driving to my camp I passed two, what I thought to be turkey.  However, each of these birds had a crown on it's head just like a  peacock would have.  Otherwise the birds were not that colorful.  When I went back to get a closer look they didn't cooperate and ran into woods.

Any idea what these were?  They were the same size, shape and coloring of a turkey other than that Indian head dress of a crown.
