I got one for this deer season(left hand in 7mm-08). Its the standard not compact. it is a very accurate and smooth gun. I took a buck with it on opening day at about 65yrds. he went about 20yrds. I love this round. I took a big doe a few days later at about 100yrds and she went nowhere. I think this gun/cal combo is awsome for deer.

I've been carrying one for three yrs now in 7-08. I load 140 Rem PSPCL and they just flatten deer. I've got a Leupold 2-7 on it. Only problem I have is when shooting it without a hunting coat on I use a slip on pad for extra length. Other than that it's a great gun.

Do you have any problems with muzzle flash due to the short barrel?
