Snowshoe hare hunting

I have never rabbit hunted. I do not have dogs to hunt with. Is there any places that are good to rabbit/hare hunt? What state forest areas would be best to go to and hunt?

Idk if anyone serious about these will tell you spots. 
Where ya located anyhow? NY is a big state

Just north of syracuse. I don’t the exact spots. If I have to drive, I just want to make sure it’s worth going to possibly see game. Love being in the woods and just needed some places to start from.

What I would recommend is finding good rabbit or hare cover than looking in the snow to see tracks to tell if any are around.
