  1. I wwent shed hunting today. Only horns I seen were still on top of a bucks head. Just a tad smaller then those sheds. Can't believe they're still holding. Can't be for much longer...
  2. Finally got er done. Been real slow til today. Nice female. 1pm. started with the "Catnip"; really tryin to get a bobcat. Called a few sets of feline, then once with the rabbit in distress and it sealed the deal. Get out and get in the game. Mating season is coming and they're starting to wonder around a bit. Don't give up. The best part of the season is coming!!
  3. You're allowed to bait coyotes in NYS. And yes, the dogs do run far. We chased one last year 12 miles lol...Probly only 4 miles as the crow flies tho. The secret is to shot the coyote within the first mile or two lol..The good new is most people have no problem with people shooting coyotes. We've come across ENCON, cops, and private hunting clubs and never had a problem with the landowners. The private hunting clubs only asked us not to drop the dogs on their property, but if the coyote goes there shoot em...
  4. Find some good dogs. I call a few in each year but my two Running Walkers always find em. My buddies have dogs too and we run em all winter (after deer season). Most productive way for sure! Bait piles, we use road kill deer, work pretty good too. Snow helps alot. However you do it, just do it!!
  5. Doubt they would ever get that deer back. I'd shoot it and mount it. No question about it. I would never of looked for a tag in its ear. Atleast it didnt get hit by a car or something....
  6. What a buck!! Couldn't imagine seeing something like that in 4S lol
  7. Never tried it at night but I think I'm gonna get a couple roadkills and sit over em at night. Did pretty good with the calls last year. Did real good with my Running Walker Hounds. Definately the most productive way to nail some yotes. Does just a regular spotlight work at night or should I get a red light or something? Thnks and good luck!!
  8. Congrats. There is no better more intense high!!
  9. The coyotes in the woods are terrible. I know of complete deer getting shredded in one night. Shot 7 out of there last winter. There's a bunch left. I sure didnt want the coyotes gettin him. If the blood dried up I wouldn't of gone far, but blood was good. Thnx Doe. I'll keep that in mind. Never did call them but if I couldn't find him today I would of. Thnx guys for all the congrats. You all know the high of shooting a good buck with the bow. Nothing beats it!!
  10. I live and in Coxsackie. Hunt between Coxsackie and Athens along 9W. We do alot of coyote huntin with the hounds in Durham. Maybe I'll message you if ur interested. After deer season tho. Shot about 2 dozen between Jan and March last winter. Lots of fun..
  11. Here he is!! 9 pointer. I swear I counted 10 last night. Guess thats what buck fever does for ya lol. I actually went out about 10pm last night ( 5hrs after the shoot). Kept finding pretty steady blood for about 200 yds. Decided to come back 6am with a couple guys. Tracked him about another 200 yds and there he was. The best part was he never stopped bleeding. I think I did kick him up last night tho. But he never stopped bleeding. Thnx for all the advice guys. He's not the biggest but he's perfect to me...
