What do you use and why? I will voice my opinions on each of them. What i like about is a bag is it is easier to pull the arrows out but they are heavy as sin. I love blocks since they are a pretty solid target but they are a pretty penny. I like 3D targets since they let your imagination run wild when practicing but they really like to let your arrows get STUCK in there good. What do you guys think, what do you use and why?

Last year i went by myself. I was not sure if i had to be with an adult or not, i did not find anything on the DEC that said i needed to be with an adult. If that is the case woops. I think if your 12 or 13 you need to have an adult to go bowhunting. Setting up a treestand by myself was a real pain. Im the only liscensed hunter in my family and really the only one that has an intrest in it. I hunt on a farm and the farmer and i go hunting sometimes and i learn from him mostly. He is usually busy and we only went rifle hunting together once. So after that long winded rabble i do only go by myself.

Mechanical or fixed broadheads?
Forest Hunter replied to Forest Hunter's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I bought a pack of the rage 125 grain two blades as a christmas gift for myself. They had a chart where it showed where you should use the 40ke and where you could use the normal and i was in the normal 2 blade side. I have watched plenty of videos and have tried my best to learn how they work. I can understand why everyone loves them, i have not even tried them out and I already love them. -
Thanks paula, I did go back the next morning and i only found about 5 yards more of the bloodtrail since there was daylight then. The 5 yards i found where just tiny specs i had to get on my hands and knees to look at and then i searched the whole valley. I thought maybe he would have bedded down for the night in some thickets but i looked all over the property i can hunt. It went from literally a 6inch wide bloodtrail for about 6 feet after he pulled the arrow out and then just got cut to a trickle. I don't know what happened i think that after he pulled that arrow out and the fact i did not make a perfect hit he started to clot up.When i found my arow and there was blood ALL over i was almost sure i had him. I was out there all night until my flashlight died. Im not 100% sure if he made it or not but i hope he did because if he did not i do not have a clue what happened after i lost the trail.

I have a blind with removable mesh. I prefer bow hunting over rifle so i think with arrows it would make less of a difference since the mesh would be cut by the broadhead and the arrow would just follow. I would rather just shoot with it off so if it did make any difference i know that if something goes wrong like any hunting attempt does i can't blame it on the mesh. I would set the rifle on one of those sled rests so the gun would point at the exact same spot each time you shot it. So you could then see if mesh did make any difference to the bullets trajectory and where it in the end hits.

I am sorry that i did not add on that i felt like total sh*t for not getting a good shot on the deer and it probably had to suffer. I am the only one if my family that hunts and i put everything i can into it. I really have just learned from books and how to's. Im sorry i made all of you angry i was just trying to say that im in love with hunting and i am never going to forget the exitement i had when i heard the arrow hit. I am sorry.

Well for some reason as soon as bow season started i had a ten point walking around my stand i never saw. Sohopes were high for that week he was around. Then he dissappered and he ws the only deer i had on my cam for that week. Then not for about a week or two there were not any deer coming up on my cam at all. Then somehow i got a little special three pointer that came in one day. Well the story is i thought all the deer around were just plain somewhere else. I brought one of those bleat cans with me one day when i was done with school. I got in at about 3:45 and used the can a few times. Then the deer just came out of their woodworks. I had three does coming from one angle and five more from another. They all seemed edgey when they were coming in and i really did not think i spooked any of them i just ws exited there were actual alive deer in my area. Then they all cleared out in the same direction and lone behold guess who was chasing ALL of them. There was this lone three pointer coming through thinking he was the boss. He stopped and scraped a tree in front of me and then when he went broadside and said i ripped my bow back.I said "hey deer" while i looked down my peep sight. The sight of looking through my peep at this buck is something i will never ever forget. I set what i thought was my ten yard pin on the lungs which was actually the twenty. So when i pulled the lever on my release and the arrow and shot it hit real low and i knew that my chances were dwindling. I went home and got some flashlights and i went back out and it was about an hour later. He bled somewhat while he had the arrow in him. I knew it must have been sticking out of him both sides since there were blood dots on both sides of the oath he was running. Then i found where he must have stopped and pulled out the arrow since there was blood everywhere. There was blood splatters six foot up the tree. The arrow was broken and bloody and the bloodtrail really picked up and i could just walk and follow it for about 20 yards. Then it dwindled down to nothing and i just followed specs until i lost it. I still say "So what, it was still fun as hell seeing that guy so close and scrape that tree." he might have healed up or keild over somewhere but all i know is if it is that much fun shooting it im not going to quit trying until i see how much fun it is finding one dead. The first picture is when i first saw him the second picture is when i was right about to hit him. Not sure if they posted or not it did not say

HE MUST HAVE MADE IT! I was strolling along in the woods. I got a blind for christmas so i thought i would try it out, i walked out near the edge of where i knew where deer were bedded during hunting seasons. As i set the bag down with the blind it it i saw a deer jump up what must have been 10 feet in the air. It looked like a big doe and it jumped up only 30 feet away. I left the bag with the blind in it behind and i walked over and there was a small overhang that the deer must have been bedding in. There was a HUGE oak that fell and the roots got ripped up and made a little hidey hole for the deer. THEN I SAW THE SHEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i looked and as soon as i looked at the tines i knew it was this guy, im not 100% sure that deer i saw was him but i have a good hunch. The tines looked a little chewed from a squirrel or something like that but i saw the split brow tines so i knew it ws this deer's. I set up my blind maybe 75 yards from the bed and mayve 3 hours later i saw a deer walking to the bed. I picked up my binoculars and saw that on the deers head you could definatly tell it was a buck by the curly hair on its forehead and the healing holes on his head. It must have smelled me by the bed since it licked its nose and knew something was up.Now i know that there is a good chance this smart ass buck made it through for next year.

Well that buck either did not make it to rifle season or he ran off somewhere. Did not see hide nor tail of him since the beginning of rifle season. I hope he made it through, i tried my hardest to get that buck.

I know where his general bedding area is in some real thick woods maybe 500-1000 yards from this cam which is right by my treestand I don't think I have that much competition for him so if I don't get him this year I can still look forward to seeing how big his rack gets. Thanks for the advice guys

I have had this ten pointer poking his head out here or there lately. He has came on the 8th, 9th, 11th, 16th and the 19th. I would love love love to have this deer be my first buck. I have only hunted one year prior to this one now. That buck did not get those antlers by being dumb and he only comes out at night. I have a few pictures of him in the light one morning around 7 A.M. When i can on the weekends i get in my stand at 6 A.M. I have not seen hide nor tail of him each time i have went. I have a bottle of doe esterous and a bleat can. I want to try and put out a drag trail this weekend since the rut is coming soon and use my bleat can to bring him in this weekend. Any tips on getting this guy. Not much has been working for me so far. I think luck is my best thing for now.

I have had my camera out since the beginning of august. On a heavy trail i would get at LEAST 1 deer picture walking by each day. On average I'd get like 20 pictures of deer walking by the trail each day. Now I just left it for two weeks and it took a picture of me walking up to it and I haven't had a deer for two weeks. It is like they just disappeared. Since it took a picture of me walking up to it it's in working order. I have pictures of raccoons every day on there of them walking by. I think they must b a factor for the deer dissapearance but idk. I want to try and get my first buck with my bow this year. Now I'm just gonna be happy with a deer in general. Any thoughts on my deer disappearing? Please any help I will be thankful over any suggestions.

It does not want to post the picture -
Pretty well speaks for it self, i found it funny it almost looks like the 4 pointer is smelling the raccoons rear end.

Doesn't matter just the biggest buck you've seen. (: -
What is the biggest whitetail buck you have ever seen in person and the biggest you have ever killed. Just wanted to start up a nice conversation and I'm also curious how big they can get around here.
-
Ha Ha yea there is a big differance.

Really nice detail, actually amazing detail.
