Wish I could, stay at home dad has to stay at home until making money mommy gives me a few morning or evening hours to go. Will be doing all day at my poconos cabin Saturday.

I use cs 100, if you exit out the guts (quartering toward) I've had the hole plugged which made for pin drop blood trail recoveries like I did earlier this year on the spike (200+yds). The doe I got last year in archery was double lung, she hardly noticed and barely trotted 40 yds before fell, not a huge trail because the blood just turned into a ball of foam on her chest. I think the key is the exit hole, if its low you get blood, if its midway up the deer or higher most of the blood stays in. Blood trail is only part of recovery though, if they drop inside 100yds concentric circled could be enough.

Just kicked one up on my way out...deer do still reside here.

Weather seems perfect, but it looks like I'm getting skunked 2 mornings in a row for the first time all season... I hate sandy...although it was awful bright out this morning, maybe they are all out with the night moon. Heading in to play with my 8 month old son...beats this!
-
5am at the am parking lot, heading into 34 w/flurries very light breeze.
-
Gonna head back in for that hoagie...seen zero
-
I'm thinking venison sausage and sunny side egg hoagie... 1 already in the freezer helps me stay relaxed in the stand on the slow days that is for sure.
-
This drawn-out bad weather sucks...not sure what I want to do...raining pretty good, callin for it all day...guess ill head to the old reliable am stand.
-
345 light snow/sleet... 36 degrees, on and off gusting wind...lets go!
-
Was in the am stand this miring from 630-900, 1 fawn seen... Back at it at my pm oak/cornfield stand, first time back here in over two weeks, nearly had a 5 point jump in the truck on the way here!
-
It's called a crossbow, haha... and my Dad and Uncle each just got the same one my grandfather got for christmas...They are down in PA so they can use them during archery...solves the dominant eye/favored shooting side dilemma.

Missed a nice 8 broadside this morning, clear lane out my wrong side (right-hand side), misjudged the distance because it is quite a steep downhill..thought I had 35, turned out to be closer to 50 when I marched it off after retrieving my arrow. He barely noticed it fly under him and trotted about 3 or 4 yards before getting right back into rubbin: I'll be in the woods most of the day Wednesday, power be damned!

46 and foggy gonna try and score before sandy gets here.
-
Gonna have to quit this session in about 60-90 minutes, wind just died down, not even seeing many squirrels so far.
-
Wow, what a nice buck! Nice doe and great shot G&RCop
-
In the parking lot at 5:40, 57 clear and windy.

Nice deer all...healthy looking herd if you went by this thread. I agree with BGF, we all want ideal shots, but when there are a pile of tags to fill it you think about anatomy and you take an ethical kill shot and be prepared to track...I harvested one quartering toward on October 6, he was only about 7 or 8 yards away and I knew I could get it done. Also had to quarter mine, though this mid-October did actually provide some good hanging/hunting weather, unlike most of last season entirely. My wife has been away on biz so I haven't hunted since mondee morn, took the opportunity to get the bow restrung and dialed in a new set of arrows. Ready for Archery Season part II (and a second and third harvest would be nice). Anyway I'm pickin her up at the airport in 2 hours so I should be back in the AM overgrown orchard stand in about 9 hours...that AM stand was smoking hot last weekend, with about 12 sightings in less than 10 hrs.

10/20 AM Orchard Stand: 8:00AM: 3 large (1 very large) Does came through my rightside shooting lanes at about 40-50yds at a good walking pace. 9:15AM: 3 or 4 Unidentified Deer 100yds below me. 10/21 AM Orchard Stand: 7:00AM: 1 Big Body crept through my rightside lanes @ 30 yards, just a bit too dark (and not legal time). 8:00-8:45AM: 1 Nice-bodied Yearling Buck (either spikes or small Y) meandering 40-50yds to between my 10-11, lots of browsing...made a quick bolt through my lanes on his way to the Orchard never inside 50 yds, though I was drawn. 8:50Am: Yearling finally exited a few minutes prior, as I am relaying the account on "live for the stand" I catch a whiff of tarsal and notice a tic on my hand (very few tics in this particular area). I go to flick the tic and a nice Doe bounds off from directly under me...no idea how long she was there...she stopped at the edge of the overgrown orchard, but eventually exited. I have hunted this orchard stand 4 mornings this season for 4 hours each and seen 16 deer and missed one (1deer sighted/hour hunted).
-
Ok, just put my phone away, get whiff of tarsal and see a tick on my hand flick..and realize I got a doe under me, busted..last live from the stand from me for a while.
-
Had a nice bodied yearling buck (spike or little y) meandering within 50 yards for the better part of the last hour...drew on him @40 but never got closer. He's in the old orchard behind me now. BGF I know you like it primitive, but fred flintstone brakes is too much!
-
Just had a nice body in lane 1 @ 30 yds but it was still too dark, and she didn't wanna hang.
-
First guy in the lot for my first Sunday sit of the year...48 and windy... Saw three in a green field on the way to the parking lot.
-
3 or 4 100yds below me on a wide open atv trail...woods are thick withe scent of tarsal this morning.
-
Got about 80 mins til I should head in and relieve the wife of daycare for a bit...still getting occasional strong whiffs of tarsal. Yeah well if I don't score I'll just go home and have some fresh eggs and some early 2012 venison sausage for brunch. Thank goodness the first one is in the freezer.

Thick unmistakable scent of tarsal
