Deer pickup is still available. And yes, there are still ticks. At the dr now getting a script because I missed one and it was burrowing into my leg. Yay...
  2. Got $10 off on the 21-22 for some website glitch they had on the 20th. Also got an email for $20 off $150 last week and a card stock coupon for $20 off $150 last week. Might have been the same coupon code, I didn't check. Also $5 shipping email this week. They're still sending them out. Check your email notifications for your online account or do the Chat Now option and ask. Tell them about the 20 off 150, they might give it to you.
  3. That's great, congrats. I just read that article in my F&S yesterday too.
  4. Raymerlo is right, it gets stocked. Last few times I was there( past 2 years) I didn't see anything but there are a lot of guys with dogs hunting so it can't be all that bad. You don't have to check in but make sure you park in a designated spot.
  5. If I'm in the woods at 4am in my tree stand loaded and waiting for sunrise while deer hunting is that against the law? I have no intent of shooting before legal sunrise but am trying to stay quiet as long as possible. Am I supposed to load the gun only at legal sunrise??? This would be the same question for archery being nocked with my release on...
  6. Smart wool makes some layering socks. If really cold I use the "ultimate hunt system light" and then the "hunt extra heavy OTC". This keeps me warm when sitting and not too hot when walking. A good mix of boots depending on weather helps too.
  7. Haha. Nothing for me today either. I passed on an easy shot yesterday hoping for something bigger/better today. Oh we'll.
  8. I'm 4G also... we have 2 does and a young buck running around all year. But the deer population has looked really small the past few years. I was out last year and only saw 2 does all season. Tags are impossible to get there so I think they were pretty much left alone.
  9. Can someone answer this for me... I'm a NY resident now and if I buy my lifetime bow now then move out of state can I later add lifetime sportsman (etc)?
  10. Would the meateria in pearl river do it? You could give him a call. I suspect all his meat is brought up from the bronx (Arthur Ave) but I think he has a cold room and hanger in the back. I was tempted to ask him to make venison sausage last year but ended up doing it on my own.
  11. Thanks again everyone for your assistance. I'm hoping we can figure something out.
  12. It's in Schoharie County (SW of Albany). The land isn't a workable farm, so to say, but about 10 of those acres are open. The neighbor to the south owns all fields and is a full timer. The neighbor to the north is us (we also have 34 acres). The neighbor to the west is state land and to the east is private, but not really easily accessible due to the ridge. We've always taken deer off the property. I didn't get one up there this year as I didn't get a doe permit, but I saw a few doe each day I sat (midday surprisingly).
  13. That's really helpful! Thanks for the info.
  14. I'm trying to get info on hunting leases. Are they full year land leases or can they be for one week periods like shore homes? How much do they typically go for? Are they managed by the owner or by a realtor/broker? Now for why I'm asking: My grandparents farm in upstate NY was left to my parents and they're considering selling it. I grew up going there and would like to keep it in the family and think we could cover taxes and insurance through a hunting lease. There are 34 acres at the top of a ridge with a pond and 3 bedroom cabin (no electric) with a barn and shed.
  15. 2 years ago I had someone park with their truck and trailer with a quad on my land, we have about 80 acres near Patria State Forest. When I informed him he was trespassing and parked illegally he and his buddy went into a tirade and started threatening us and telling me the land owner gave him permission years ago (we've owned the land over 50 years). As things start to heat up and he refuses to leave the land, 2 more of his buddies walk out of the woods, they must have been walking my back property and he was waiting for them. Luckily a DEC officer drove by and noticed the commotion. He basically told me I should have had better posted signs, but asked the guy to leave. The trespasser eventually left but I couldn't believe the nerve of the guy and how the whole situation went down. If the DEC officer hadn't come by I really don't think they would have left.
