How does one tell if a magazine is pre-ban or post-ban? Is there some easily identifiable marking or stamp on them? -

First, It is a misnomer to call Pot a drug. The government calls it that so it can be banned and controlled under narcotics laws. It is a weed that effects your mood and mind but by no means through pharmaceutical man made methods. Second, using pot does not lead to the use of other drugs. Plenty of people have smoked pot for decades and still don't use anything else. If the escalation to harder drugs myth were true, all pot heads would eventually die from an over dose of heroin. Evidence also indicates if pot were legal, the use of harder drugs might decline. The risk for using harder drugs would be higher if legal pot were available. It makes no difference currently, since the penalty for use and possession of all controlled substances is currently equal. -

I can accept any line of thinking that I believe is for the good of the country as a whole. Any line of thinking that can be exposed as detrimental to the future of the country is unacceptable IMHO. I believe any proposed progressive changes bear the burden of proof regarding positive improvement for the country. Recent history clearly shows progressive changes in the past few decades were a disaster. Many Americans now see this and are not going to be fooled again. Especially when the progressives claim the reason the past changes were a disaster is because they weren't progressive enough! -

And the the battles being fought in Congress are between the Conservatives and the Progressives. Unfortunately the Progressive types come in all ages. And when they take power they tend to ram all types of socialist legislation through, that gets them voted out in the next election, leaving the Conservatives no choice but to waste time trying to undo the damage they have created. Imagine how bad things would be if the average age in Congress was 30 to 40. -

Once again, a total lack of understanding is obvious here. People my age have already made it in life. We are looking forward to retirement and enjoying the fruits of our labors. We worked all our lives and earned everything we have. We have no need to take any more than we need, we are more interested with giving back to this country, the country that has given us the opportunity to succeed. We also see that the country we grew up in, worked in and made our fortunes in, is no longer the same. We see the crippling problem of entitlements and the unsustainable debt it has created as well as the government subsidy of parasitic lifestyles. It is our desire to bring awareness to the situations that are bound to cause your generation lots of suffering. The children that we have raised are well schooled in this same awareness and have been protected from the political indoctrination into the brave new world of socialism the left has done it's best to stuff into their brains. Alas, not all parents had the luxury of time, the presence of mind, or the parental caring to protect their spawn from such a progressive "education". -

The audacity of some of our elected officials knows no bounds. Work to remove these Jerks from office as soon as their terms expire. If this bill ever gets passed, Cuomo becomes the target of letters if he fails to announce he would veto it.

So did booze during prohibition. The ban on booze made Al Capone the man he was. And let's not forget how Joe Kennedy got rich. Booze will still kill you if you drink too much of it, but now your death is self inflicted, not forced upon you because of huge profits. It's not the pot that is causing the problem, it's the amount of profit that anyone can make with it. If something is illegal and in high demand, you will have a black market for it. If the profits are high enough you will have a struggle for power and killing. If you look at gun bans, you will see the same black market starting up. That's why there are straw buyers and gun runners. You can never stop crime by making any inanimate object illegal. You stop it by prosecuting people who commit crimes that are worth stopping and prosecuting. -
This is a question to the guys who hunt in the Catskills
Mr VJP replied to Larry's topic in Deer Hunting
Scot, deer will leave the high peaks in the winter when the snow gets deep and the temps drop, so you won't find many deer tracks in there in the late winter. Deer will yard up in deep snow to pack it down and prevent it from constantly cooling their chest area and putting too much strain on their heart. They will simultaneously move to good feeding areas. The question is, are there deer in the high peaks of the Catskills during the November deer season? I believe there are, but at lower densities than the surrounding farm areas, simply due to the amount of land available to roam and the lesser amount of food it supplies for deer. I believe the coyote population in the high peaks needs to be controlled because it is having a negative impact on the deer herd, as well as the turkey flocks, but I'm not sure the black bear population has that big an impact. -

Fantastic post muzzy. These are the things I have been trying to point out in this forum for some time. But I don't have it in me to be quite that eloquent or type so much at length. Thanks for posting it. I'm sure some on here will simply write the man off as paranoid. And they are the ones who claim to be open minded. -

OK, I'll give you that, with some people. But I'll disagree that religion has no place in government in this country. -

Virgil, am I to understand you do not think religious people can be highly educated? Am I to believe some of the greatest minds of our time, Scientists, Doctors, Physicists, etc. do not, or didn't believe in God? Is that what you believe? -

It's called freedom of association. Another one of the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. You know, that document you don't want to apply equally to opinions you don't agree with. Any way, this thread has run it's course and devolved into juvenile name calling and diversion on your part. I tire now of the witless banter and will make no further posts on this thread. I'm sure I'll find you personally attacking me in some of my future posts though. Try to address the topics as best you can in the future. Thanks for playing. -

Virgil, when you visited the Vatican, were you awake. There's a whole army there you must've thought were an entertainment troupe. January 22nd, 1506, is the official date of birth of the Pontifical Swiss Guard, because on that day, towards the evening, a group of one hundred and fifty Swiss soldiers commanded by Captain Kasparvon Silenen, of Canton Uri, passed through the Porta del Popolo and entered for the first time the Vatican, where they were blessed by Pope Julius II. The prelate Johann Burchard of Strasbourg, Master of Pontifical Ceremonies at that time, and author of a famous chronicle, noted the event in his diary. In actual fact Pope Sixtus IV made a previous alliance in 1497 with the Confederates, which forsaw the possibility of recruiting mercenaries, and he had barracks built for them near where there is, still today, the small Church of St. Pellegrino, in Via Pellegrino in Vatican City. Later, renewing the old pact, Innocent VIII (1484-1492) also desired to make use of them against the Duke of Milan. And Alexander VI also engaged Confederate soldiers during the time of the alliance between the Borgia family and the King of France. While the Borgias were so powerful the so called Italian Wars began in which the Swiss soldiers were always present, in the front line, at times for France, and at others to support the Holy See or the Holy Roman Empire ruled by a German sovereign. When the Swiss mercenaries heard that Charles VIII, King of France, was planning a great expedition against Naples, they flocked to enlist. Towards the end of the year 1494, thousands of them were in Rome, passing through with the French army, which in February of the following year, occupied Naples. Among the participants in that expedition against Naples, there was also Cardinal Giuliano della Rovere, future Pope Julius II, who under Pope Alexander VI had left Italy and gone to France. He was well aquainted with the Swiss, because some twenty years earlier he had been granted as one of many benefices, the Bishopric of Lausanne. A few months later however, Charles VIII was forced to abandon Naples in all haste and he barely succeeded in forcing a blockade and escaping to France. In fact Pope Alexander VI had connected Milan, Venice, the Germanic Empire and Ferdinand the Catholic to form a barrier against the French. -

Virgil, your reading comprehension needs work. I can't help but notice your reply to the above posts are superficial and without any attempt to address the points made in such. Your last post is purely contemptuous and lacks any depth. I was going to say you can do better than that, but I think maybe I might be judging you too quickly with that. -

So you clowns think some of steal from you?? Maybe you guys should get educations and find better jobs? At Christmas I got a $28,000 bonus from my employer, maybe I can send some money to you fellas? I'd be more than happy to give to the poor. You don't mention the type of work you do, or the education level you have. But you make a pretty big assumption about others in this post. Then later on you claim to make no assumptions. I've never judged a man by the size of his wallet, preferring to look at his intelligence and character more closely. But if what you say in the above post is true, based upon what you have revealed to us here on these forums, i believe you are either vastly over paid, or your boss is a fool, who's money he has too soon parted with. Besides, don't you know it's rude to ask others what they earn, or presume to make more or less than someone else? You have obviously suffered major neglect in your upbringing with regards to manners and social ineptitude.
