  2. I sent someone I know to the Allentown Gunshow and he came home grumbling. That's one of the premier shows When I went I had a great time, and saw a lot of nice stuff
  3. Doc ask Papabear He would know To the best of my knowledge no You don't need a special permit
  4. I myself am very glad I found my way here. I was very warmly welcomed and have already received some good advice here. After some time away from the Hunting fields I will return later this year and start with small game either out here on Long Island or up state. Next year be the Good Lord willing I'll go out into the Deer fields. I also look forward to becoming a Hunter Safety Instructor here in New York
  5. New York is a Great place to live, work, raise a family and hunt
  6. This is one area where I am hoping to make a difference. After I finish the H/S Instructor course With all the firearms restrictions in New York and elsewhere I am hoping to prove that we New Yorkers are responsible hunters and gun owners. Fighting the good fight means proving that we are intelligent and law abiding. I still think we can do that. We do not need Government thinking for us, and we have to show them that.
  7. Hello Papabear Nice to see you again.I bought my license at the OysterBay Town Hall, which his not far from my home An old Geezer like myself only has to pay $10 bucks. I just want to test this new Marlin out, and then I'll give you a hollar Maybe we can do some Varmint hunting
  8. Myself I'm going hunting in New York before I even think of venturing beyond our borders The Club I belong to goes all over, but think I'll stick to good old upstate Ny and long Island for a few years.
  9. I'm hoping to hear from Nichole at the Regional Office in StoneyBrook about when the course is being given I think perhaps I'll let them assign me to an Instructor and I'll intern for about two years before I apply for final certification
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'll try to be active, and having been away from the hunting fields for a while, I'll be asking your advice and counsel. having just gotten a new Marlin 795 rimfire (I'll post pics soon) I want to try small game first. Then I'll head back into the deer fields
