If rights come from man, then rights may be taken away by man. If rights are natural, or innate, then they may not be taken away by man. I don't believe in god, but rights do not come from man. Rights are a natural condition of sentient life, and no law written by man may divest them from you, nor may they be given up, forfeit, or taken away.

Registering firearms/long guns

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams -
Good on that kid at ≈31 minutes in for discussing jury nullification. it's a point I've made here numerous times. We as jurors are the arbiters of fact AND LAW and can refuse to convict anyone at anytime we feel that the law itself is unjust, or that the prosecution should never have been brought. i can tell you right now, if I'm seated on a jury trying a citizen of the state of New York for not registering a gun, he is at least guaranteed a hung jury. On top of that, I will work to convince everyone in the jury room to find such defendant not guilty of a crime.

Disturbing Trend

Who's the cop hater? Who's the one that called other members low lives? It is possible to criticize the police, and to criticize police policy or unproductive waste by police departments without "hating police." The hating police argument is a strawman fallacy built up to discredit any valid criticism leveled at police tactics/behaviors/policies. Just as any government agency creates arguments in defense of itself which tries rather than to prop itself up, to rip the side making such detracting arguments down. It was a video about Muhammad that made those people kill the ambassador, it wasn't our failure in the state department. Fast and Furious was a great idea. We had no idea that guns we sold to Mexican Drug Cartels would be used in murders. It's not DoJ or BATFU's fault. If you criticize the police, regardless of what they did -- even if it was shooting a 90 year old woman after serving a no-knock warrant at the wrong address -- well you're obviously just a criminal that hates cops. It's nonsense and you know it. Valid criticism of any agency by taxpayers is what this country is about. Only in modern history have we become a cult of the golden badge. -

Actually, it started out as legitimate criticism of misuse of taxpayer funded resources by members of a certain department. In response one particular individual began leveling baseless charges and impugning the character of other members. -

LMAO. Make a sweeping generalization after accusing someone of making untrue generalizatons. Excellent debate technique. If what I say is untrue, please explain why I see officers of the SCPD sitting 3 and 4 deep in parking lots wasting taxpayer dollars doing nothing but drunking smoothies and/or other means of being idle. I don't have a problem with "law enforcement". I have a problem with government waste. When I see the equivalent of a half a million dollars per annum sitting on their asses in a parking lot, wasting time and resources, yeah, I have a problem. Take care officer. Stay safe tonight. -

Essentially, yes it is. And it's only going to get worse. Uhhhh, I have a problem with a monstrous police force of overpaid fat guys who sit around doing nothing of consequence except functioning as revenue generators by means of traffic enforcement. I have a problem with guys who get uppity because you point out that Suffolk has a plethora of cops, cops who are grossly overpaid for the risk level of their jobs, and make my taxes as high as they are because their union is constantly in a pissing contest with Nassau about who should be paid more every few years. And finally, I have a problem with anyone who will enforce unconstitutional laws, okay officer? -

Police Chiefs Support New Gun Laws

This is what I've been saying. Great to hear another like-minded individual. Our best offense in this situation is education of the ignorant. Unfortunately, this being NY we face an incredible battle of ideas. We must all do our best to try and convince those we know who are on the fence how wrong this new law really is. Also, we must make a concerted effort to engage in civil disobedience by refusing to comply with this blatantly unjust legislation. I fear however, that King Andrew will bring the full force of the state to bear against the first few, in order to intimidate the rest of us into compliance. This is just the beginning, and it is going to get very ugly. -

Same in Suffolk. I can't drive from my house to 7-11 (which is only 1 mile away) without seeing at least 3 cops from varying agencies -- SCPD, SCSD, NYSPP -- these days. My neighbor across the street, who I'm on good terms with is a cop and his girlfriend's a C.O. There's just a f**kton of law enforcement for bucolic Suffolk County is all I'm saying. -

The sheriff is the highest law enforcement official at the local level. Mack & Printz v US. This ruling also stated that sheriff's ARE NOT subject to federal direction, and may run counter to any federal "orders." As glad as I am to see true patriots in the law enforcement profession finally standing up to the over-reaching, brutal arm of the federal gestapo, this situation is going to get ugly. Anyone else remember what the feds did to Louisiana when they refused to raise the drinking age to 21? They cut off ALL federal highway funding. The roads in Louisiana were in such a state of disrepair before they agreed to raise the drinking age they were actually unsafe. That's your government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Do as you're told or we'll put your citizens lives at risk by withholding funding for roads until they are actually dangerous to drive on. This is the approach the feds will take on these matters as well. All federal law enforcement fund matching will be cut -- which personally I'm in favor of. It's unlikely it will stop there as places like Utah and Idaho and Wyoming don't have the massive paramilitary police apparatuses that States like NY, IL, and CA do. So they'll have to find somewhere else to hurt the States who refuse. My guess is it will be cuts in education funding. Sort of like "Oh, you won't listen to me? Fine, I'll punish your kids." You heard it here first. -
Actually, it is. Under a little known (And very forcefully politically hushed in places like NY and California where the State is king) doctrine called nullification. Municipalities refusing to enforce a law in great enough number will render the law invalid, and thus nullified. Jury nullification works in the same way. But it has been ruled that the representatives of the State have no responsibility to tell you as a juror about jury nullification, and since he Prosecution doesn't have to tell you, the defense is sort of de facto prevented from informing the jury. Just another case of the state looking out for itself. However, in Jury nullification, juries are to be the arbiters of fact and law, not just fact. Jurors can -- AND HAVE -- nullified unjust laws in the United States, and in many countries which use the common law system. So, remember that next time you're on a jury. YOU ARE THE FINAL ARBITER OF FACT AND THE LAW. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jury_nullification This is our last best hope in getting these idiotic laws recently passed overturned or just outright thrown out/retracted. Towns/municipalities refusing to enforce them. Or in the case where the State picks up the prosecution, juries refuse to find the defendant guilty, regardless of the amount of evidence against them. We as citizens of the United States have a CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY to disobey unjust laws. "When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty" -- author unknown " “A little rebellion now and then... is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government.” -- See Avatar
