  1. lol well im glad i dont trap skunks........ on the other hand i will keep that thought(pointing nose) in mind. thank ya.
  2. im sure this has been gone over before adnausum but how in the heck do you put a pic into your post? sorry folks but im either getting tired or old but i was looking for a faq or another similar topic but could not find one :dontknow: any help would be apretiated thank you.
  3. lol just keep on trying. i still to this day try to get out a bit more to use the new...... just a work in progress i guess?
  4. i guess i am showing my age a bit here but i will ask/tell. if by progressive you mean bifocals......... then yes i was put into a pair of them last season(small game) i hunt tree rats in the early season with my 410 open sight and from the first day i found myself trying to move(adjust) my head to get a better sight. head back i could see the sight. head down i could see the target but that ball at the end looked the same as the barrel. freacked me out cause i dont use scope's on anything. i talked to the eye doc and he also hunts so he kinda knew what i was talking about. he told me to use my old glasses(non bifocal) while shooting because the lower part is for seeing up close( if you have a deer or what not sittin in your lap i want to hunt with you) were as reg glasse's are for further away. i went into the field last season with two pair of glasses. since then i have been to the range to work with the (problem as i call it) adjusting but i still find my head moving to compensate. next step might be a scope for me but still aint fond of that idea. this season i will be in the woods with my old glasses.........and hoping that if it is sitting on my lap it will move out a foot or so and wait for me to adjust. not sure if it helped you any but i myself am still trying to adjust to my new eye's best of luck to ya and if you get an idea..........please let me(us)know thank you.
  5. like stated above dont turn it into a chore. when i first took my oldest out with me we sat for 10 walked for ever and then sat somemore. i learned that morning to put the gun down and to listen. after that first time out i swear that boy would set his alarm 30 min before mine so that he could go hunting/tracking/history/science lesson.... i loved every minute of it.when it came time for him to think about hunting he was chomping at the bit to put his own stamp on hunting history. take your child with you and enjoy the day for what it is.....you will have a hunting buddy for life.
  6. like stated in so many other post's a crow is not a easy bird to just point and shoot. good practice for a young hunter to aim and follow through also with a liight breading 4 or five crows will give you a small appetizer while standing by the grill. just dont tell your wife....trust me on this one
  7. now those are some really good referance diagrams and pictures i remember as a young hunter just being told to aim here but not there and when it came time to dress the deer..... omg wish my uncles had this back then.... would have made thing's a bit less complicated
  8. in reply to lawdwaz about my self? i would have writers(typing)cramps by the time i was done but i can give it in brief. im a soon to be 45 year old male father of 5. two girls ages 22 and 2 two boys ages 20 and 17 and my son james would have been 6 this coming december. i work at welchallyn in final assembly electronics and i am a avid hunter and at times a rabid football fan lol. i enjoy cooking with a passion but really pull out the stops when it come to grilling or cooking over a open fire. im not a person to brag and get really upset when i hunter tries to explain to a new person to hunting about how they have been there and done that but are not willing to take the time just to explain the basic's without making the new hunter feeling out of place(stupid) and not good enough to talk to unless it is all about the person telling the story. other then that i am just your average(mike) and just try to get by the best i can. hope that helped a bit.... im sure once i get a bit more used to the forum and members i will be able to go on a bit more. till then respect to all Mike.
  9. hello all just wanted to say hello and i am looking forward to reading and responding all of the various topics.
