  1. Rest In Peace and the thought's and prayer's from myself and family to those who have lost so much in this horrible act.
  2. ok i guess i got my questiones answered.... to question 1 if the head is seperate from the body then YES PROOF OF SEX MUST REMAIN WITH THE CARCASS. question number 2 was really grey when given the answer. according to dec you ARE NOT ALLOWED to be in possesion of a loaded fire arm bow/gun/muzzel loader while afield before or after legal hours. HOWEVER you can have said firearm in your possesion if you are pursuing coyotes or if you have coyotes or bears in your area of hunting. if you are found in possesion of a loaded firearm it is at the discression of the officer to take further action.......... so i guess im good to go. keep the head with the 1/4"s and dont shoot nothing until the legal hour of hunting or after the legal hour. as a side thought while on the phone i asked about the legal hours as far as sunrise and sunset.......... as was explained to me even your local news channel has a sunrise /sunset time and dec accepts that. they will also accept that you need to addjust with a plus or minus 3 min depending on where in ny you are hunting.......for you guys closer to the big pond your golden.........for those that are over near BUFFALO....ya got a few more min to wait in the am but you get it back in the pm for those afternoon hunts. thanks to all with your replies.
  3. you may not live in the city but most states DO NOT allow any type of firearm (even pellet/bb guns) to be mailed or delivered to any place other then a liceenced dealer ( FFL ). if you want the pellet/bb/airgun just go to your local wally world/basspro/whatever and buy it. just bring proof of age and or address. if you are 18 or older no problems. if you are under the age of 18 a parent or guardian must be present with proof of them being your legal parent/guardian. hopes this helps you some.
  4. while out hunting this morning i had two questions pop into my brain. question 1 i can not find this particular reg but it is my understanding that if you shoot and take a buck that part of the buck (genitallia) sry about the spelling but i did not want to get to graphic...... anyhow part of that buck must remain with the carcass. my question is this... if you have to quarter your buck out to make trasportation out of the woods possible what do you do with the evidence that it is truly a buck? question 2. several post here have stated that i am in the wrong for carrying a loaded firearm while in the wood's/field before or after legal shooting light. i have tried finding the answers to both questions and i am currently waiting for a reply from dec but i was just wondering if any other hunters here knew about these questions? thanks.
  5. i am unsure about the found tag issue/question so i can only tell you to call a game officer and ask them that question. sry i could not be of more help to you and good luck shame to let all go for nothing.
  6. hate finding those out in the woods but it happens. like stated above if you want the rack or head call dec so they can tag it for ya. if not let ma nature do her thing.
  7. congrats to the both of you nice looking buck
  8. really nice bucs. i myself would LOVE to see a average anything lol
  9. thank you and seeing how i am in the wrong i will show this(rule and reg) to the land owner. even though it is NO excuse i was more concerned with the rules and regs of the hunting asspect of it not an entire wildlife summery.........but thank you for showing me why and rest assured it will be taken care of today. again my thanks to all for comments left.
  10. ok let me get this straight..... 1 pics taken of deer while a salt lick is present is illegal? not sure why this would be illegal due to the fact that NO game was being HUNTED. 2 yes all stores sell supplements.... licks ingestable attractents ect..ect... but to have these present in the woods while you are hunting is illegal and is considered baiting and i agree with that statement but no hunting was taking place. 3 any and all attractants are removed before hunting on or near that said area so where is the problem? i understand that the idea of baiting does not set well with some and i know the law as it is written. i DO NOT hunt or purseue game over bait. i do follow all rules and regs as far as baiting are concerned. if a land owner wishes to place these items out during the course of a year that is NOT ILLEGAL. if i chose to NOT remove those BAITS and hunted while they where there that WOULD be ILLEGAL. Baiting—It is illegal to hunt with the aid of bait or over any baited area when hunting big game, upland game birds, turkey or waterfowl. To hunt—means to pursue, shoot, kill or capture (other than trap) wildlife and includes all lesser acts that disturb or worry wildlife whether or not they result in taking. Hunting also includes all acts to assist another person in taking wildlife. now just so that i am on the same page.......... what laws if any have been broken? the only hunting in the above pics was done by a camera. if I am in the wrong here then i am in the WRONG and will do what is needed to do so as NOT to be in the WRONG thank you for all of your comments and suggestions
  11. most excellent it is great to take a kid out with you even better when they actully get to see some wildlife
  12. personly i think that the crossbow should just be added to the list of legal instuments. there is no need to give crossbows their own season as well. remember when a muzzel loader had to be primitave and no scopes, had to use a ball and inline types where not sporting enough? or how about when compound bows found their way into main stream? years ago it had to be a recurve with out any mechanical devises to aid the shooter? personly speaking as the times change so do the ways and manner in which WE hunters go about our sport.... just my humble two cents.
  13. thanks for the coments and as for bait it is a mineral lick that is set up about 5yards from a out shed. we do not hunt in this area just because it is so close to several out buildings. also the land owner pulls those licks at the start of gun season and will replace them at the end. never had a problem with this before and im sorry for any confusion or hard feelings. best of luck to all this up coming season.
  14. these pics came off a trailcam that the landowner finaly picked up last weekend.
  15. lol like all above statements i could have been worse. but on the plus side you still have a full week to rest the shoulder knowing that you are sighted in. best of luck to you one the real opener.
  16. holy crap that guy is quick...... never thought of using a hook either. thanks for the link
  17. personaly speaking if i was given those doe tags i along with other hunters would gladly shoot the does. not looking for a wizzzzzzzzing contest here but if you are given a buck tag and no doe tags ......... i am hunting to add more meat to the freezer other then chicken beef or pork... i know that a dinner is a trip from the local grocery store away but....... meat is meat. just my humble 2$ and by no means do i dislike or make fun of the hunter that passes on a spike while holding out for something bigger. just the same as i do not poke at the hunter who take a button or a spike. best of luck to ALL hunters this season.
  18. just a lot of rain and a whole lot of branches down.im sure your camp will look about the same as you last left it. hopeing for the best of luck too all that were not as lucky.
  19. congrats to you and even better that you took a kid with you to enjoy it all
  20. those small packets that come with electronic devices will after several days wick moisture away from the pellets. put the pellets that came with the device into a ziplock bag along with the powder pellets and let them set. they will dry out and none worse for wear. i also keep several of these small pakets in my gun cabnit to help with moisture during the summer months when a/c is in use.
  21. welcome to the forum enjoy and good luck this season
