-
only thing i can say is.......... YEP
-
congrats to you.

yeah mabey we are being baited...... conned....... scammed.......what ever ya want to call it. at the same time if a new hunter really is a new hunter we owe it to ourselves to suck it up roll your eyes and give out the general what to do what not to do and what ever you do BE SAFE.

i have been hunting since the age of 16........... those years before that i was the snot nosed kid that fetched another beer for one of THE HUNTER's at my uncles deer camp. alls i can tell you is that every single person who is a member of this forum started out the same place you are............ the snot nose no nothing about nothing wanna be a hunter. that being said...... Welcome to the world of hunting. Get out into the woods....... pay attention....... ASK alot of questions....... and then ask somemore. as for other hunters giving you a hard time........... when you put in enough time into hunting and you get lucky a few times.......... you will do the same. best of luck to you and with that being said.......... start reading.

kinda makes me glad that i will be hunting for turkey but even that will be a crap shoot. that being said and like i said earlier.... I HAVE NEVER hunted with a bow so i guess my opinion is worth about nothing but....... can you hunt or set up in any creek bottoms, draws, or other low lying areas where you will still have the wind in the equation but not as much as you would if you are up 10 foot in the air in a tree overlooking a field? just a honest to God question...... like i said im not a bow hunter.
-
really cool pics. not every day a hunter gets to see a couple of bucks getting into it for breeding rights. really cool
-
weather is a changing.......... hopefully it will get those deer and turkys up and moving around a bit more. also it will make that morning coffee break in the woods a bit more enjoyable
-
just a safety thing. my buddy hangs a blaze orange pannel onto the tree that his stand is in. as he says he does not want to end up with small game load in his arse because another hunter did not know what was beyond their target.
-
let dec take care of the problem this is what they are paid to do, also they know what actions can be taken and which cannot. example. what if the other hunter has permission to hunt in a area but missed the posted signs. so you take the stand down and leave a note.......... mabey the hunter will show up or mabey it will be a deputy investigating the theft of property. if it where me i would call not only the land owner but also the dec... better safe and done legally that in a manner in which might put you in the wrong. just my opinion......... either way best of luck to ya and hope it all gets worked out.

i hunt and i like to eat meat............. it all works for me as long as it is done in a legal and ethical manner.

like all who stated above in regards to using a call. they are correct and even during the fall the birds are very vocal. i will hunt in the am the same way as i do during the spring. during the rest of the day i will mix it up between sitting and calling and stalking and calling. at first light im set up overlooking a small open area between two creek bottoms. during late morning im walking and calling field edges. late afternoon i try to set up between fields and several large trees. yes keep a eye out for feathers, dusting bowls, and acorns along with berries and water. set yourself up at the start with a combination and you will probably at least see a bird or two. the best thing about fall season is that you do not have to worry about time working against you best of luck to you.

just a dress rehersal 3 days prior to opening day (my brothers laugh at me but............) the day before opener i will do another quick dress rehersal to make sure licence.. shells.. gun.. camo... ect.. ect... is all good to go. i do this every season and every season it seems that somebody as we are getting out of the trucks is looking to find some batteries....... shells....... and yes one year my cousin had his back tags but they where from the prior year............ as far as a meal goes.......... lasgauna dinner the night before with plenty of water and pepsi. lunch while in the woods is a bolongna and cheese sandwich along with peanuts. that night........... we as a hunting party are in the process of butchering a deer and enjoying liver, and onions along with tenderloin and some beer. cant wait and best of luck to all. and just like the beer commercial........... its only weird if it dont work
-
very nice looking buck im sure that you arnt getting amped up for deer season though lol.
-
very nice looking pics best of luck to you this season

let me start out buy saying/asking. why would you want a over/under for either type of hunting? that being said get yourself a decent pump or semi and never look back just my humble $2

there is never such a time like now. yes on a weekend mid day that is a great time. if the person has land and this time of year you stop by while he has 3 wagons sitting in front of the barn and two kids and a man trying to get that hay up into the barn................ 2 or 4 hours of a whole lotta sweat and blood goes a long way as compared to a simple knock on the door............... just saying.

got my licence and permits along with the 2013-2014 regs and guide and found on page four the artical stating the fact. kinnda sucks for those that just went out and purchased a new crossbow. Crossbows No Longer Legal Hunting Implements in New York State The law that formerly allowed big game hunting with crossbows was written with an expiration date of December 31, 2012. As the law has expired, crossbows are not currently legal hunting implements in New York State. For future updates, check the DEC website.
