Got it. Don't talk about baiting, don't read about baiting, don't even think about baiting, or you're considered a poacher [emoji106]I think we're all clear on that one. What was the second thing?
-
Yup. It's up to the individual to follow the law. I don't want the governments help.
-
Fireworks... [emoji91][emoji95]. Don't get me started .
-
I use a bare hook and just call to them. It's been five years since I've caught a fish.
-
I hunt general gun only and can't get a doe tag.
-
You can't persecute me because I'd actually like to shoot a deer in deer season. And yes I have seen does, regularly, and yes I'm getting closer to a buck. http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php?/topic/20119-Hunt-the-Scrapes-or-the-Does/page__view__findpost__p__261724 But on the last day of the season if I haven't shot one, it sure would be nice to tip the scales a little instead of coming home empty handed, again.

Lol. I've been hunting in the ADKs for something like 5 years and still haven't shot anything. Tuff is an understatement!
-
Yeah I knew that was coming. Baiting is not a canned hunt. c'mon man
-
Lol Baiting is just another tool in your arsenal, not much different than using a gun to hunt instead of a bow.
-
I'm no different than you. I enjoy the difficulty and dedication it takes to hunt in the big woods. That's why I said: If you like to hunt in the big woods, well you can do that too if you want. But I also want to be successful so if I'm having a tuff time bagging a deer, it would be nice to have another option like baiting. I haven't gotten all the through reading this thread yet but someone earlier said they didn't think it was very neighborly to suck the deer onto your side by baiting. I'd have to agree with that.
-
I'd didn't. I should have though. I can't say. I'd have to assume it has a lot to do with how well the deer herd is doing and I know extremely little about that.
-
I don't hunt illegally. I hunt over bait in a different state where it is legal. That's why my opinion is more valid then those that haven't done it before. Those who haven't done it are speculating whereas I am not. I am also certainly not trying to impress anyone. Just trying to give folks who aren't in the know the facts.
-
I'm sure you were being sarcastic but... Yeah. That's exactly what I'm saying. If someone's objective is to put a deer in the freezer, then yeah, give yourself any advantage you can. Should go without saying but I'll say it to be sure, if it's illegal, I'm against it.
-
Yeah you got me there, I didn't read them all, I should have. Since you've never hunted over one, I guess you'll have to take my word for it, you don't just show up and shoot. I've hunted over them several times and come away without seeing one deer. It's not the way a lot of folks make it sound. The food plots and feeders simply bring deer to the area more often. They don't always show up. And they definitely don't always show up at the same time everyday, at least not where I was hunting.
-
Have you hunted over bait before? Get ready for it, I'm about to take a shot at your credibility.
-
This thread isn't about weather it's legal or not. Try to stay on topic.
-
We're all out there to shoot a deer. Baiting helps get the deer in your area. Why wouldn't you want to increase your chances of taking one home? Makes no sense to me not to. If you like to hunt in the big woods, well you can do that too if you want. What's the problem here?
-
This was my experience also. I was seeing deer every day until that snow fell. I took a shot at a buck and missed before the snow fell and even told my buddy that I knew I didn't have to worry because I had been seeing plenty of deer and I knew I would have another shot. Boy was I wrong. The woods just got real quiet after that.
-
Pretty sure that's a myth

One of these cold threads should really be made a sticky.

I don't know what that is but under armor I think it's great. Two layers. The tight layer and then the sweat shirt and pants layer.

Nada this evening. All that movement between 8-9 this morning then nothing. What gives?
-
My feet were cold today. Was in the high 20s I think with a little bit of wind, 5 to 10 mph. Looks like before next season I will be on the hunt for another pair of boots.
-
No snow where here in 5g. I had three does walk by me at 8:15. Then at 8:45 I had a big doe come running up from behind me. She stopped at 15 yards and looked at me. She snorted then hauled a$$ back from where she came from.

Nothing for me tonight or yesterday evening. There were deer moving this morning although not where I was sitting unfortunately. 2 days left...
