This deer will get the pass from me. Hopefully other hunters in the area do the same. Thanks for all the opinions and input.

Awesome bucks! Good luck

Will this buck always be without brow tines? Should it be culled from the herd or given another couple years? If I don't shoot any doe I won't hesitate to shoot it late season, but usually I am lucky enough to fill the freezer with doe meat.

Pictures have been hard to come by with this buck and the 8. Still have not had any more of the 8 pt. Here is an updated picture of the 11pt. Thanks for all your replies!

I am pretty sure the big 8 point is the buck pictured from last year with the broken rack. It took everything in me to pass on him last year. Hopefully it pays off. The 11 point has a unique sticker growing on his right side.Any rough guesses on the age of these 2 deer and what they might score?

Hail mary shot tonight. Sat in brush near soybean field after work at 4:15 to 4:45. Saw the 9 point I have been waiting on all year. Half the rack was broken off. Let him go for next year. Only 2 1/2 this years old this year, probably scoring 115, probably a 130-150 deer next year. Thought he was dead until tonight. Never saw him all bow or gun season. 3 doe popped out 3 minutes after sitting down. 5 minutes later here he came. Had him dead to rights. I have 3 big doe in freezer otherwise he would have been sacrificed for meat. Only buck worth shooting in my 8A hunting spot. should have shot a doe on my last DMP. Muzzleloader will be fun. I am going to miss this!!!

Mast crops, warm weather. The deer are there. just have to work for them. Saw them in drones all bow season, they then disappeared when gun started. Big boys have been nocturnal though.

My family and I eat 5 deer by june every year. I shoot doe. i have never shot a buck. Won't shoot buttons, yearling does. I pass on many bucks. Just out there to eat or possibly get a monster. i take my 6 legal does from 4 different areas and spot up to 19 a day during archery in 2 of the areas in 2 of these locations w 0 buck sightings being included in the 19. See way to many doe wasted on the road where i hunt all year. Better to feed my family the best meat in the world then see it wasted. I hunt for me and my family( not to reduce accidents)and would even if cars didn't hit them. I could shoot 7 legal doe but only take 6 and they are back in droves every year.

You did the right thing, and obviously hunt like a truly ethical sportsman should. I haven't seen any deer like this yet but my opening day, and both my hunts this weekend were ruined by trespassers trampling around. I know that they would shoot at any brown they would see. One guy even walked in front of me today and started dragging a doe i just shot. Amazing I even saw her with his stomping around. So both properties I work hard and pay to hunt on have had 0 buck activity and one is a no doe zone. These areas were flooded by bucks during archery. So are people these dumb, don't give a shit, or completely ignorant. i confronted this guy today and he was like," I was just trying to kick stuff up." The other guy on my other property openly admitted he was trespassing, what a joke.

I have 2 8M, 2 8A. Looking for a 9p. Longshot, but might as well put it out there.

hunted 9p with family today. passed a 4, spike, and 7 pt. saw 3 doe and 2 button bucks. dad saw 7 doe and 3 6pt bucks. he took a shot at one of the 6pt and missed. the deer was rutting so hard it then mounted the doe right in front of him. my brother saw 17 doe and missed the one he shot at. so I guess you could say they were ripping our clothes off out there. what an amazing day. this is what its all about.

glad to hear others are seeing this, some old timers at work think I am bullshitting them. grunted in a 5 point tonight, passed 4 buck this week, waiting for a big guy
-
Is it me or are the bucks chasing pretty hard right now? I witnessed a big 7 make a scrape, chase a doe while making a tending grunt. Then today had a 4 chase another doe past me.

congrats, a real trophy! -
Passed on a 4 pt that ended up chasing some doe that were walking towards me away. Nice morning out here in hunt, NY, nice SW winds

She led a group of 10 deer into a soy bean field and pegged me when she was at 60 yards. Stared each other down for 5 minutes. Continued walking towards a sunflower field then turned back with the group. 3 big doe and 7 fawns. They browsed at 60 yards for 10 minutes, she then walked towards me to 38 yards and started to walk away. Shot her right behind the shoulder, she acted like she wasn't hit and went 10 yards and dropped. Bear Attack w/ easton axis nfused, 2 inch rage cut on contact.

Bow only, except for roses marsh. 500 ft from residence, school, or building. This location is legal. Talked to a DEC officer while fishing and bought a map at the town hall. But thanks for the heads up, you never know. -
This is a spot i just gained access to. What does everyone think? Can the season just start already?!
-
Can anyone age these deer? Any rough guesses on what they score? Thanks.

Another buck from my brother's camera on the same property.

They are NY pictures. I had no idea big buck like that were on the property. I had a picture of the first one at 8am one day but deleted it by accident. It is my second year hunting and I have never arrowed or shot a buck.I have passed some smaller ones and I will probably continue to do that. But my main goal is filling the freezer so if I don't tag any doe my game plan may change. Hopefully I can pull my bow back if I see one, unlike the first doe I saw. Most of the spots I have hunted are all doe, I arrowed 2 and shot 2 last year. This is a 140 acre lease property surrounded by soybean, corn, alfalfa, and hay fields. I will post some pictures of some of the smaller bucks when I get a chance. Thanks for the replies.
