  1. There's a world of difference between hunting varmints vs small game. The size of the critters and the methods to hunt them along with the rifles, shotguns and loads involved are very different. As such I think there should be a separate forum for it.Opinions?
  2. Screw water-boarding!Send a few of those to club Gitmo.
  3. I've thought about getting one from time to time because I hate all the cleanup that goes with BP and the subs but my TC Omega just shoots so damn good I find it hard to give it up.
  4. IMO the very best way to practice.Especially so if you don't have a range finder or the time to use it.Critters can be very uncooperative in that way.Bill any plans to hunt back around N Pitcher this year?
  5. Actually this brings up a good point.I think it's important to practice both early and late in the day.The different light does have an effect as does drawing the bow in the morning before your muscles have had plenty of time to get with the program.Nice bow!
  6. When I returned to compounds late last summer I tried both ways but found the sight picture a bit "busy" with both eyes open.I shot ok out to 30yds but beyond that accuracy fell off so I stuck with using one eye for the season. When I got going again early this spring I began shooting exclusively with both eyes open.It took a while but I've gotten accustomed to it now and feel it's the better way though like shooting bare bow it does require more time/effort.
  7. My friend has a camp here near Frinks auto..He gave me a key and I get down that way some for turkey, deer and varmints.
  8. All I was doing was spooking deer with or without a light. Now I wait until I have enough light to see whats going on.10 x better!
  9. Geno fact is most falls occur while getting in or out of the stand.
  10. Always!!!I still have the one I got years back from Paul Brunner/Screaming Eagle.
  11. Lots of coyotes up here in the Adirondack park.I got a CZ 527 in .223 for this season.I'll also be using the 12g with BB and #4 buck.Just need to get a different choke to improve the patterns. The Ulti mag choke is to tight for the loads I have.Great for turkeys though.
  12. Another Leupold fan here.I think my next will be the Redfield 2-7 since it's now made by Leupold and I've heard nothing but good things about them.
  13. For years I used mostly Rem factory ammo in my 7mm.Now that I'm reloading I'm using mostly Sierra and Hornady bullets.
  14. Been loading shot shells for about thirty years.Got into brass about 2 years ago.
  15. Back when I lived in Sayville (23yrs ago) I shot at Calverton.I liked it.I don't know if Bhaven was even around back then. The Calverton bench' were a nice fit for me.I've only shot at one range up here but the seat to bench height relationship was awful.
  16. I hunted waterfowl all the time back when I lived on LI but I haven't done so up here.Near the end of winter I started hunting varmints. No luck but I'll be at it a lot more this season.
  17. I'm in the Boonville/Port Leyden area.This looks a lot like a forum I joined a while back.I think it's the same resurrected.
