I have two hang-ons.Screaming Eagle and Loc On Light.
-
I can see them for target use but they need to much length to help any so I cant see using them on a hunting bow.
-
I use hang-on's.I don't like climbers because you must cut away all branches leaving you more exposed. As far as ladders go I would go with the ones that go straighter up keeping them in tighter in to the tree.

I'll try to make it down for bow/fall turkey season.I haven't been there the last couple years but I still have access to my friends camp. -

Bill I haven't been to this site for quite a while but I always stop in for a few beers there. -
For turkey I've always had good luck with 4's.Coyote are tough.I would go with #4 buckshot but nothing smaller than BB.As always pattern to find the best choke.

That gun is likely lighter than my 835 Ulti Mag.I put a KickEzz pad on mine.It made a world of difference with the recoil. You might want to do that to.

Blaser slide bolt rifles
Bernie P. replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
There was a review on these in American Rifleman recently. While there's a lot to like about these guns the groups they got really weren't anything to get excited about.Certainly not for what they cost. -
Late last winter I found a killer deal on a new CZ 527 American with rings in .223.You'd be hard pressed to find a better gun than these. Here's a pic wearing a Leupold VXI 2-7-
-
Three Leupolds,one Weaver,one Bushnell RD.
-
They make a lot of good products.I've never used their liquid scents but I have had some luck with the scent wafers.

Fantastic deal on a great gun!I wish the current 7 was as good as they were back then.I'd grab one myself. -

A lot depends on how you're hunting.High power is not a problem for stand hunting but if you like to still hunt or track you're far better off with lower magnification/wider FOV. -

I put a Bushnell Trophy RD on my Mberg 835.Quicker on target than my CF rifle with a 1-4! -
My first few years hunting deer was out of Long Lake in Hamilton co.We took the fly in with Helms Air service into Lower Sergeants pond.Beautiful area!I haven't been back for some time but I loved it.

Me and my trusty Omega are all set. With either sex allowed it's almost to easy.
-
Back before Chenango county allowed rifles I used my TC Black Diamond there at my friends camp.At that time my shotgun was a Mberg 500 smooth bore and the ML was a good bit more accurate. Now that things have changed there I only use my ML during the special ML seasons.

I live in Lyonsdale but my mail address is Port Leyden. You're right up Rt 12 from me.Does your club have hunting property?
-
Congrats!Always nice to break the ice early so you can relax some and enjoy the rest of the season.

The rain kicked my butt yesterday. It was coming down all day.At times very heavy. In the evening I checked the basement about 8 and had a little water but no big deal considering how much it had come down.I looked again around 10 and couldn't believe how much water was there.I used the shop vac along with the sump pump till almost 2 AM getting it out.Caught a few hours sleep after things slowed down then back at it at 6 every couple hours until 10:30 .Looks like it might finally be over with now.Anybody else get screwed?
-
Hardly any rain yesterday in the AM but it's been pretty steady since.I saw a few does and a turkey yesterday morning.
-
Just got back from the AM hunt.Saw a group of three across a small corn field about 100yds away but they never came in range.Had a lone doe coming towards me on my side of the field but she winded me and went back the way she came before I had a clear shot.Going to try another spot on my own property this afternoon.

At long last the early bow opener is finally (almost) here.Anybody else going out tomorrow?
