  1. Here in NE part of the state your average mature doe weighs about 120lbs. Some bigger and others smaller that are young. Bucks yield a little higher percentage and very old or very young deer yield less. You get about 35% of field dressed weight in well trimmed meat. So for .5 lb or so per day you're about 2 deer. If you shoot a big mature buck that weighs more and gets more that might enough by itself.

  2. had a Fidens super heavy cut triple ipa in a share yesterday
I've had that fresh. Not sure how old it was but that one is a favorite. Juice and not boozy at all for a triple. One of my favorites.

  3. Couple of local fidens brews. A 10% "triple farmer" and a 9% "do you know allen?". He's the guy that does the art work that's hard to see in this light. The triple was better.20220806_211353.jpg20220806_211926.jpg

  4. Don't have a hooter shooter or a chrono. Tune your bow and speed is what it is. Drawboard and press are essentially the most important tools. Next is the versa cradle bow vise I use.

It's been really hard for me to find a good shop that is will to take the time to properly evaluate me. I honestly wish there was a class or something you could pay for where they go over paper tuning, bare shaft tuning, and proper form(reconfiguring your bow if necessary)......

you learn by doing and honestly you need things like a press, draw board, etc so you're not wasting time going 3 steps forward and 2 steps back. youtube is your friend but stick to advice coming from tournament/well know bow shooters and certified level (whatever) coaches.

  6. i don't like snakes. Ive relocated milk snakes and garter snakes but water snakes no way. also i never have and hope i never do run into any of our NYS venomous snakes. even with gators I'd never make it down south or out west.

Ive had them on all my bows for a lot of years, zero failures and so easy to setup. Did you tie it in to your cable or use the "football"?

i'm a strong proponent of the football. i've never had any issues with one loosening or breaking. i've always used a sharpie marker to make a witness mark just for peace of mind. also it makes timing a breeze. tighten it just barely enough to pull the rest up to full 90 but enough to slide. draw the bow and it'll tell you exact position then give it a slight bump back down. that said i have had bows where the cables too close to give it room. i tie it in and then leave a little extra coming out the knob on the end to allow for tuning without having to serve it back in. your bow tune is constantly evolving as you shoot so how someone can serve it in and then expect to ignore it for the full life of the string is just ignorant IMO.

Make sure you don't get the hunter qad rest,it can bounce back up and mess with your shots. the next step up is better...

my wife has the hunter without the braking feature. I've never had issue with it when timing it the way QAD tells you to. can't really remember as it's been years since i've messed with her bow but it might have been last 1" or less of drawlength or something. only time i ever bought or messed with the hunter model though.

  9. all the methods if done right should get you close but when you draw have someone look at your draw arm elbow postion and bow arm position with shoulder. all in alignment and not hyper extended it should look relaxed with elbow running in line with arrow shaft, not in or out as viewed from the back. @The_Real_TCIII posted a good video by Dudley but still people have bobble heads and do weird things to where it could be off a half an inch. They also have weird anchor points and tend to position themselves to deal with the bow fit, so have them close their eyes and anchor as you explain it to them where it feels comfortable.

  10. Loooong slow sipper. The barrel is perfect marriage with the coconut. Probably the best beer I’ve ever had.  And I’ve only had 6 beers in my life
I've got bourbon county I have to try from over a year ago.

  11. Pew pew=.28$
    Damn that’s just the primers.
Premium hunting rifle ammo like swift Scirocco or non lead stuff is like $3+ per trigger pull to buy it off the shelf right now if you find it.

  12. I've taken two in Maine. First was with a outfitter, we hunted out of Escort Station. The second I hunted with a buddy of mine who set up the bait sites.  Fun times.
Escort station is up there for sure. Ill be right next door to the SSE.

  13. going rate for large rifle primers is .14 per pew. pretty high but i needed them and LR primers hard to come by. small rifle primers are around and more like .10 per if you need them. powder from what I've seen is around $50 per lb. pretty expensive from what it used to be. definitely by more than 8%.

  14. Going up into the Allagash way up in northern Maine to hunt black bear. Likely stick to rifle and not bring the bow. Sounds like the outfitter not setup for bowhunters as well. Despite I've gotten them on trail cam and there's more each year around here in eastern NY, I have yet to see one. Just not as prevalent. Trip starts opening day, the week before Labor day.

I never walk in the woods without a seat cushion attached to my belt

funny how i've walked out without one though. haha  new hunters i've mentored i've given a wind checker bottle full of talc powder and a seat. I've had them borrow shooting sticks and tell them that's also a must have, well for gun hunting. crossbow that would probably also apply.

  16. i've passed multiple bucks i've assumed to be up to 3.5 yr olds that were under my apple tree in the backyard. i only own 1-1/4 acres at the house and my neighbors are all okay with me discharging whatever last time i checked which might not be good enough. i really don't think a 4.5+ yr old buck would be under my apple tree unless it was at night. a bow would be a little disrespectful for me because i know it's likely to leave my property. a rifle i could dump it right there potentially, despite it's more obnoxious. so it's a possibility but really likely not. no different than capitalizing on opportunity by shooting a buck you didn't pattern, track, or pull in on a managed property.

  17. water resistant foam hunting seat/cushion on a milk crate most of the time if i'm off the ground. more often i'm on the ground with just the cushion that's attached to me. too much other stuff is a plain to carry in/out and holds too much scent to leave.
