  1. Fair enough and i also dont know of the amount of land there.I do know its fenced and i do know lots of hunters hunt the army depot every year...
  2. So you are saying that you would not hunt seneca and think that anyone that ever does is hunting a canned hunt??????
  3. Has anyone or would anyone take a free unguided, unlimited acreage to hunt on the seneca army depo and hunt the white buck!!!!
  4. I dont think nuisance permits are able to be used during open deer season.I think thats when the dmap's are used.I dont think they would let anyone ride around at night with a light and a rifle during the reg season!!!!
  5. Yup i have had mud caked on my stand many times and a few years back the bottom was flooded and i could see ducks and geese swim around one of my stands. The best year i ever had down there was one year it was flooded. We talked to some of the head guys down there and they will not let you put a canoe in on the park but i will tell ya i would do it in a heart beat and it would be easy to get one down to the river on one of the trails that go to the riverbank..
  6. Yup if you want to see a deer sit on its butt with 4 legs sticking out in front of it waiting for flat land again the park is the place to see it.They know the bottom is safe and they will get there no matter what is in front of them. Well i should say safe unless there are fools like me waiting for them to get there!!!! LOL
  7. I should say that i did not mean you were not a hunter if you do not believe in ar or hunt the park..I just meant if I see you where i hunt on the park.I KNOW you are a hunter or just a little crazy!!!! I guess the other post could have gotten me nailed to the wall if someone took it that they were not hunters if they did not believe in what i do!!!! LOL
  8. Nah,I have no problem rubbin shoulders with real hunters. If i see someone hunting where i hunt you can bet they are hunters. They have no problem with antler restrictions and no problem with working to get what they want. You have no idea how many people i have been through on letchworth. They see what we get and they are like man i am going there and boom the next year they are. Then when you see them again its like you are freakin crazy to hunt down there. Then the stories start and the last words are....You will never see me there again...I just smile!!!
  9. That was cool!!!!What kind of camera were you using??? Looks like it had some kind of light on it for the night shots!!!!
  10. They close the park when hunting season starts.I think this year they stopped charging at the gate on the 3rd weekend of october.Remember you do have to have a permit to hunt on the park and if you are not renting a cabin you have to get drawn in a lottery. They let 500 hunters per week to shotgun hunt.If you are just bow or muzzle hunting you just have to mail in a request for a permit!!!
  11. Yuo she sure is a purrtty one..Good luck with her,She looks well on her way to findin the next nys pick up record!!!
  12. We did feed the bears this year..A buddy shot a nice 9pt at last light and headed out to get the rest of the group to help get him out.We got a big doe out another member shot down trail 15 and went back to get the buck. When we got to the last tier from the bottom we heard all kinds out growling and brush breakin. There stood 7 guys in the pitch dark with no gun and 50yds from a very determined bear.Needless to say out we went and the next day we found what he didnt eat,Half buried...Doc we have carts,1000's of feet of rope and we went as far as to take a hand cart, mounted a winch on it and run it with 2 car batteries. We strap the cart to a tree at the top and one of us go back down the cliff to hook the deer up and bingo...Up they come...I know it sounds like alot of work and it is but with a group of guys it works pretty slick. There is not one guy in our group that has not taken atleast a 120in buck from the park and a couple of us lucky ones have 3 book bucks. The largest ever from our group is a 160in funky lookin non-typ.You better like to hunt to do some of the crazy sh!t we do...LOL
  13. I use the sst in 20 gauge and have had great success with them. They are one nasty slug!!!
  14. Local that would be deer!!!Once the banging starts up on the farm land they head to the bottom of the gorge.Sometimes i wont see deer untill noon but you can bet the farm they will show up.You dont have to worry to much about the orange army on the bottom. If you see a hunter down there you can be pretty safe in bettin that they are a hunter.Your everyday joe is not goin down there to hunt..It you go to the check in thread you can see a nice 8pt that santamore shot on the bottom this year with the bow.He is really wide but just a little short on tine length,But a great deer either way!!!!!
  15. I do have some great pics of him and of a 120in 8 point taken from the same stand this year.If i can figure this computer out i will get them on...I am kinda computer stupid.. WZ i would be more than happy to show you around on the park but man isnt that a long haul from yur place????
  16. Thats easy...Cornell has antler restrictions, a shorter season, and an age requirment..That deer lives where and how every deer in ny should live.... He has it made..He has all the girls he wants and he gets to grow to his potential...As long as he dont get it with a golf ball or a truck!!!
  17. Thats right PART of the solution and if you dont think if ny got to be known as a big buck state would not bring hunters in i think you are way wrong..
  18. I have also hunted there for over 20yrs and you want to be in shape to hunt all of the park.We rent a cabin the last week of bow and the first week of shotgun. If anyone was there this year and saw all the deer hangin along side the big 8pt on cabin8 that was us.I wouldnt miss the first day of shotgun by choice. My treestands hug the river and about 10am on the first day all hell breaks loose. Its like someone opened the floodgates!!You had better be ready to work for your deer down there as i took a 136in 12 point in 08 and it was a looooong 6hr drag back uppppppp!!!!
  19. 2 weeks of bow with either sex tag,2 weeks of gun with either sex tag, 2 weeks muzzle with either sex tag and 1 dmp that can be used with any of the 3 weapons!
  20. 1 either sex tag for each weapon and 1 dmp per hunter!!!
  21. What is wrong is when you have a thread on here that says the late second and the last week of gun nobody is seein deer.Have a split season and you will see deer just like we did during late muzzle.
  22. I hunt all 3 and my time would be short thats for sure. They say that most of the deer are taken the first weekend so i dont see where it would hurt the deer population and alot of the bucks would live to see another year...I think cutting the bow season would hurt me the most!!!!
  23. 2 weeks for bow,2 for gun,2 for muzzle and hang em up for another year!!!
  24. I know every place is different but every hunter i know would much rather take a doe rather than a small buck.I really find it hard to believe that most hunters if asked would not let a scrub buck with less than 3points on a side walk.I guess we could do a poll on here and ask just us users how many let that kind of buck go and how many on here took a buck smaller..We go one step further and its 8pt or better where i hunt and yes we let lots walk but we take our share of does for the freezer and when a buck is taken the rack is not the kind that gets tossed in the shed.We will let any young hunters take any buck their first year but most of them see the deer we have and even they let the little ones walk. But thats just how we do things in my neck of the woods...
  25. I am sure there is some out there that do not have the skills to kill a buck if there was a certin restriction on them. I am also sure that some would rather take a small buck instead of a doe...I know one thing that i am positive of 3 years ago they started ar on letchworth and with the buck sign along with the bucks both alive and taken it is turning into a place to hunt for the next great buck.
