  1. Well he's not big, but he did feel a lot lighter than deer I have in the past...this past year I have been training a lot with deadlifting and squats. Guess it paid off!
  2. So here’s the full story…shot him late yesterday, and found guts everywhere at impact but barely any blood. I watched him run toward my house (this is about a quarter mile into the woods on my property), and his blood trail followed along the creek that runs parallel to the trail I take to go home. Got up this morning and started tracking at 6 AM (thanks everyone for the advice), tracked his blood and guts for an hour, about another quarter mile through my neighbors’ properties into a swamp. Turns out this is a huge buck bedding area…huge rubs and scrapes everywhere! Had to carry him back through the mud and water, but totally worth it. The coyotes only ate some of the intestines, and left everything else. Other than the bad shot, overall still very happy!
  3. They only got to some of the guts…is the rest of the meat ok to eat?
  4. Found him at 7 AM! Not before the Coyotes did… will post story shortly
  5. Well good news is a buck DID show up. Bad news is that I hit him in the guts. This digested food everywhere, very little blood. Should I wait until morning to track him?
  6. Sometimes I'll bring a few small game broadheads to pick off squirrels when I'm bored.
  7. Not the best pictures haha but here you go. Hopefully the next pic of him, I’ll be in it!
  8. I finally had my 10-pointer show up during the day yesterday...after only seeing him at night for the past 2 years
  9. I've been hunting from the ground since I found this new spot by some power lines. Yesterday I walked into the thick wooded area where I bumped a buck bedded down a few days earlier. As soon as I walked in, I saw 3 or 4 deer walking away from me (they heard me coming but didn't see me. Don't know if any of them were bucks or not). I quickly backed out and went around to try to cut them off at where I thought they would exit, but turns out they never left. I waited outside for about an hour, and when I went back in, they were still in there. I forgot my grunt caller and only had my doe bleat. I used it to try to get them to come out, and by this time it was dark. For about 10 minutes I had one of them walking back and forth right in front of me, I could only hear it though and couldn't see what it was.
  10. I had a great afternoon yesterday, stalking a new piece of land I've never been to before. After walking around for a few hours, I sat down in a random spot and did a few doe bleats. 5 doe immediately emerged and came within 15 yards of me. Then I went to another spot, which was really thick and wooded. I wasn't careful and bumped a big buck who was bedded down. I'm gonna try to go back this afternoon and see if he's there again.
  11. Hmm it's going to start raining tonight and won't stop until Sunday morning...guess I should just wait until Sunday morning then?
  12. Awesome to start seeing more and more bucks on this page. Who's going out tomorrow in the rain? I'm gonna try to get out there for a little bit at least, see how long I can last being wet and cold. When would be the best time to go?
  13. I had 2 8-pointers on my property several weeks ago, haven't seen anything since then. I've been hearing a lot of bucks being found dead from EHD.
  14. There are still a big 7 pointer, 8, and 10 pointer in my woods, who are all coming around almost every single night. The 10 pointer even left a fresh rub a few nights ago. Even if I never get a chance to see them during the day, at least I know that nobody else got them either...
  15. I took the head of the 10 pointer I found that had been killed by EHD and cleaned it up
  16. There he goes again. Almost every night this guy and another 8 pointer are coming around. Never seen either of them during the day (except last year when they were both smaller).
  17. I was thinking just a few days because all the intestines are still intact. Every time I’ve gutted a deer, the intestines are gone the next day.
  18. Well after chasing a big 10-pointer all season without any success, today I went kayaking nearby and found this other 10-pointer dead in the water. Looks like he recently died, I don’t think he was shot because all his organs are intact. Well good to know he lived a long life and passed on his genes.
  19. Beautiful very lightly used rifle. If you've never handled a Tikka before, the action is smooth as butter. Nice heavy barrel. Gun and scope together worth $1300. Selling for $1000.
