  1. Another fresh new rub. I was just here yesterday! These guys are toying with me.
  2. Saw another fresh rub this morning deeper in the woods. But no bucks on the cameras for the past 2 weeks.
  3. I'm in 3J, and this is the worst season to date. Saw a 6-pointer on opening day, and not a single one since then. But on the cameras I've had a 7, 8, and 10 pointers only at night.
  4. Seeing forum members getting bucks this late in the season gives me hope. Even though I haven't had any new rubs or anything on the cameras for 2 weeks!
  5. Well this was my first crossbow kill, as well as first kill from the ground. I decided to sit down at the base of a tree near where there are a lot of rubs. A baby buck comes by, then a baby doe, then this big doe. She is the only one that sees me, and stands 10 yards in front of me stomping. I thought that this was way too easy, let her go. After about 5 minutes she gives up and walks behind the baby doe, where I can’t get a shot. Another 5 minutes pass, and something spooks all three of them and they all run. The big doe pauses for a second, and I hit her in the lung. The strange thing is that there was barely any blood on the ground...for some reason she didn’t bleed until she fell here about 70 yards away.
  6. I almost did it this morning. Sat down on the ground near some rubs, and a baby buck comes walking toward me 15 yards away. Stopped and stared at me and tried to walk even closer before deciding it was a bad idea.
  7. Everywhere I look around my stand there are new rubs. Still have yet to see a single buck in the daylight. My neighbor has been running an excavator less than 100 yards away every day all season. Are the bucks not coming out because of all the noise?
  8. Here in 3J, I see a 7 pt, 8 pt, and 10 pt every night on the cameras. Have never seen any of them during the day.
  9. Rubs all over the place, bucks on the cameras at night, but I saw nothing all day yesterday and only a baby this morning.
  10. I’ve had a big 7 pointer and 10 pointer on my cameras every single night for the past week, never seen them during the day though
  11. Saw 2 fresh rubs this morning, but no scrapes. What does this mean?
  12. Well maybe peak rut just came a little late this year...I have only seen 1 big buck all season...until I checked the camera and saw this beautiful 10 pointer come out every single morning and night since Monday. And of course I stayed home all week haha. He’s only been caught on the camera in the dark though...hopefully I’ll catch him in the sun this weekend!
  13. The only “rutting” activity I have in 3J is a baby spike following a tiny doe.
  14. I thought that he might make his way to the bedding area, which is why I waited there...guess I’ll wait by the scrape tomorrow morning?
  15. I have the worst luck! I’ve been watching this 7-pointer come around every morning for the past few days. First it was 3:30, then 4:39, then this morning at 5:30. However, this morning I decided to post up at the bedding area about 200 yards away. Never saw him. Turns out he came by to the mock scrape I set up, at the same time I was climbing my tree 200 yards away!
  16. This guy has been coming by my stand in the morning, haven’t seen him in person yet. There are fresh scrapes, but I don’t know if they are his. Anyway I’m hoping to catch him this weekend on his way back to sleep. There is a fairly large bedding area about 100 yards away where I set up my saddle, hopefully he’ll go there?
  17. This season has been the worst for me thus far...until yesterday. Saw a big 7 pointer on the camera at 5 am. In the afternoon I set up a mock scrape, and this morning saw two big fresh scrapes just a few yards from it! Feeling very optimistic now.
  18. At sunset today a baby buck came by my stand and started eating. It was cool at first, but he wouldn’t go away, and it was getting too dark to see so I had to come down. Eventually he walked away...only to stop and turn around and come back. Finally I decided screw it...if he sees me and gets spooked then oh well. So I climbed down as slowly and quietly as I could. And he just stood there, less than 20 yards away, watching me the whole time. I got to the ground, picked up my pack, gave him one last look, and walked home. And he still never ran away.
  19. I think you’re right. Well I set up a camera there so we will see
  20. Hmm out in the open like that? I thought they always bed down in thick stuff
  21. Thanks! I actually did find some droppings so that’s good at least
  22. I found these in a low lying area right next to a small creek. Didn’t see any droppings or rubs or tracks. I know deer come through here, but not sure how often. Are these scrapes??
