  1. Anyone else feel that the state need to divide the state up in more than a northern southern and Long Island zone? Long Island has a longer bow season and the northern zone starts earlier? But here in wny there are more deer then people know what to do with. You figure areas like 9 A and 9 F would get an extend season. Just my .02 cents

  2. When a teenager (crud...35 years ag0) we went to Marine Land in Canada, where they had trained orcas. My whole family was disgusted by the situation- huge intelligent animals kept penned up in a literal (to them) fish bowl. From what I have seen, times haven't changed much. I am very leery of animal rights activists, but I don't think keeping orcas (I guess I should with an open mind say wild caught orcas)is very smart or humane.
marine land is the worst. They had a number of whales a few years ago but they kept dying. Seaworld actually went in and took one if there whales back. They also are breaking a law because they only have one whale and that is against some law they have
  3. You would have some serious population control issues. In some areas of the state, the current harvest goals dont get met year in and year out with things the way they are now.
i think they need to do a better job of splitting up the state in terms of zones. Areas like 9a and 9f are full of deer. They should also have more of an incentive for land owners to open there land to hunting. My buddy nuisance hunts a farm in 9 f last year shot 20 deer durning that season then shot 3 more during regular season. I was out coyote hunting the property later in the year and saw 15 plus deer in 2 hours
  4. Dec website info:To hunt furbearers, you need to possess a junior hunting, small game, small/big game, sportsman, super sportsman, non-resident hunting, or non-resident super sportsman license. To view season dates, season zones, and bag limits, visit the bobcat, coyote, and fox, raccoon, opossum, and weasel season pages.People interested in trapping opportunities for these species must obtain a separate trapping license.Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk

I believe for bobcats you need a special permit. I may be wrong though

  5. It is very confusing....the thing that gets me is I

  6. Now this is what is really confusing to me.

You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except that during any open season for deer - including archery, muzzleloading and regular seasons

Which leads to tell me you cant hunt any furbearer during gun season with a rifle but any other legal implement is acceptable. But yet the season date starts Oct 1. So its okay to take a shotgun coyote hunting during bow season but not a rifle even if you are in rifle country? How much sense does that make?

if you area is shotgun only you cannot uses a rifle larger the .22 during the season so October 1st to December 17

  7. There are two good stands on my property my brothers is at the top of the hill in the corner of the pines. He always shoots a deer there opening day. The other is at the other end of our property which belongs to my uncles buddy that stand always produces. I put up a stand this year and I shot my 11 pt out of it so I'd say that's kinda success full. That stand is at the bottom of the hill about a 100 yards below my brothers stand
