  1. culver creek. thanks and good luck to you too. we've seen bucks- and a good few rubs. my partner missed an eight pointer last year and i have plenty of trail cam photos of some decent bucks, mostly younger looking bucks. i passed on a few young bucks and does last year. i'm in virgil, exit 10 off 81.
  2. hey culver creek. i bought a piece of property in 7R recently. this is my third season hunting it. i'm near the tuller hill forest. if you don't mind me asking, what area are you in and how is the hunting, in general? i got a nice eight pointer in the pouring rain on opening day of gun season two years ago- the first day hunting the property. since then, it's been okay. bow season has been slow. i'm curious to know how the hunting in the area has been over the years. thanks.
  3. my buddy and i hunted opening weekend- saturday through monday. it was really slow. i didn'tn see anything at all. my friend had a buck come to his stand sunday and monday mornings before shooting light. we saw a few rubs. but, otherwise not much action. not sure when i'll be able to get upstate again. i'll probably wait a few weeks.
  4. i've always used climbers and have never had a problem. also have a ladder stand and two self-made wooden ladder stands on my land. i'm trying two new gorilla hang-ons this year. i like the fact that they're so light and easy to carry- only about 11lbs.
  5. that photo looks a little fishy to me. first of all, there's a pile of corn under that deer. secondly, if you look at the very left side of the picture, you can make out the back end of another deer- could be some photoshopping involved.
  6. this is why i don't hunt on the island anymore- plus the fact that my climber was stolen the last time out. since then, i'd rather use my time hunting upstate on my own land.
  7. i work out east and i passed a few trucks parked in the number spots along route 25a in wading river and along route 24 in riverhead. maybe we'll hear some reports later on today.
  8. would the new owner of the cabin have rights to hunt on the 88 acres? if so, what is the yearly cost of the lease?
  9. i'm a long island guy. i don't hunt on the island much anymore. i'm not interested in checking in at rocky point and i don't have access to any private land to hunt on. any advice on a decent place to hunt without a ton of pressure?
  10. i recently bought a scent drip bag. i've never used one before. does anyone have any advice as to how/when would be best to use it. i know they're usually used in scrapes. but, i'm curious if they can be used in the early season or in any other way.
