  1. Hey guys just wanted to let some of you that live out my way know that I am opening up shop in the town of Bergen. I was lucky enough to find a store front with 2000 sq ft of space to run my taxidermy business out of until my shop at the house is complete. I am very excited about this opportunity, and am going to be running a deer contest for a free shoulder mount if any of you are interested.
  2. Looks like he has been back he posted a pic of the mount back in april but his photobucket account ran out now.
  3. Where was that buck hit I got the same picture last week saying it was killed in oakfield
  4. Man those are some great bucks, New york is starting to produce some giants. WNY buck hunter if you dont have a taxidermist picked out for those big boys check me out I would love to work on that big drop tine buck, already seeing him as a nice pedistal piece lol.
  5. Here is another shot of him I'm thinking he is in the ballpark of 24 inches wide
  6. This is definatly a ny deer and he is standing in a bean field, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him I have been seeing some really good bucks in the area but he is unbelievable
  7. I think bears mayb 2 cubs the one in the back is running and thats a leg not a tail possibly
  8. Oct 1st would be so nice but does anyone have a guess to what the big 9 would score. He has the frame of a true giant just not enough points but I am still guessing mid 160s
  9. My guess is mid 130s 140 great buck as a 8
  10. I get 450 for a deer head and turnaround time depends on how busy I am and when you bring it in. As far as the fish comparison goes you cant compare to different guys work. The skin mount you posted is done by a master taxidermist, he could do a repro that looks just as good, its all in the painting. There are alot of good taxidermists out there and there are some great taxidermists out there you have to find a guy that you like. Expect to pay more for better quality and in the end you will be much happier with a great mount as opposed to saving 100 or 150 dollars for a so so mount.
  11. Here are a couple of the deer I am hoping to see once the season starts
  12. I have killed one 10 pt I had trailcam pics of, and shot and lost a big 9 last yr I had pics of.
  13. He would have been a beauty this year I believe he was only 2 and a half really good potential.
  14. Found in a little thicket just off the road
  15. Here are todays finds the big one was 20 yds in front of my stand lol.
  16. Wow just amazing, tell me that wont have an impact on the deer herd.
  17. Its kindof been whenever, I havent been able to lockdown a so called rut, so I hunt as much as possible. I prefer bow hunting and spend more time doing that than gun hunting but I do them both. Having multiple places to hunt helps as well I can move around on them and they cant pattern me.
  18. Ya all private ground I hunt a few different farms, I wish we could use supplements, I have relatives in Kentucky who do and they have killed a few 160s and the biggest is a 185. I knock on alot of doors I do alot of driving around in late summer locating the areas the bucks are in and I try and locate an area to hunt them sometimes its only 3 acres sometimes its 1000 you never know until you ask lol. The property I just bought has only 5 and a half acres but will produce some of the best hunting I have. You have to be ok with not killing a buck in order to kill deer like these so that means letting the young ones walk. But I will never ridicule anyone for shooting a smaller buck to each his own, I like hunting big deer tho.
  19. Ya I started hunting 9 yrs ago the one on the left was my first buck, I was told by family and friends it was all downhill from there, but I have hunted hard and done well. There should be two more on this wall but as we all have experienced I slipped an arrow thru and missed vitals. One would have been my largest buck he ended up getting hit by a car, later that season. 150 class 10 pt.
  20. Yes these are all new york bucks all from western new york
  21. It seems to me that the majority of hunters will go with a cheaper guy to save a little money, but almost always they pay for it later. Let me ask you guys this would you choose a guy with 25 plus years of experience over a guy with 6 jsut due to the experience factor?
  22. Wnybuckhunter was Gary in spencerport your meat cutter? It also depends on how a customer takes care of his head once its home, just because a mount looks rough, other than anatomy issues, it could be how a customer cared for it.
  23. No Geno I just got the property last year and didnt kill anything on it, I saw 4 giants there. I am finding the sheds on and around where I was able to get permission to look. The neighbors dont hunt but allowed me to go look for antlers. I am thinking in the next five years I might tag the biggest buck of my life, and least thats what I am hoping for lol.
  24. Steve why wouldnt you get anything mounted? In my opinion quality should come first and formost. Prices are generally within a hundred dollars of one another and if one guy spends that much more time to make your deer look as real as possible he should make more. The taxidermy industry is a funny one, I dont look at any other taxidermist as competition there is a taxidermist for everyone. I just try to provide the best quality I am capable of, and let the rest take care of its self.
