Pistol Permits Catskills region
Pugsley replied to Jaeger's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I didn't know . I looked at mine and noticed the county listed.. It doesn't make sense to me that every county has different laws. I remember hearing in Westchester they were telling people they couldn't bring the pistol to NYC, Albany and Buffalo. I never heard that one before but I heard the lady tell someone that when they picked up thier permit. They should have a NYS pistol permit valid everywhere in NYS issued By NYS. Well maybe not now this state sucks when it comes to gun laws.. I am glad I got mine when I did. -
I think a weekend warrior is someone who just goes get a license no other hunting equipment grabs a gun goes into someone's property for 1 day sits down in street cloths and waits No thought at all.

You have a NYS permit. You went through the process that is recommended by NYS. You just need to change the info. -
Pistol Permits Catskills region

I don't understand... I live in dutchess county. My pistol permit is good in the entire state with the exception of the the city. Why is yours only good for 5 years? Also if you already have a valid permit than the county your moving to should just change the info. Am I wrong to think a NYS pistol permit is just that a NYS permit. I can see if it was only a county permit but it's not... -

permit recertification
Pugsley replied to bubba's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Also what the state has to do is go through the Corection officers who bought guns on their badge then Retired or quit still have the guns with no badge or permit. I know a couple of those. To me there is no reason a CO needs to have the privilege of buying a gun on a badge. What would be the reason? They fill out paperwork and its registered with the state. When those CO's/police no longer have the badge it needs to be put on a permit. The state has records of who has them. I guess they don't look. My brother would buy a gun on his badge just so he could leave the store that day with it then transfer to his permit ASAP. -
permit recertification

I live in Dutchess county. I haven't heard anything yet about this ,but my brother who is a retired cop said you will. It's just the start. In a way I agree with it. I have had mine since I was 19 they don't know what I have done or become. I have a friend who had his moved 3 times back and forth to Florida over the years. He now lives there perminatly. He gave me his 357 I put it on my permit. It's still on his also. As far as they know the same gun is active on 2 different permits. The system has flaws it needs to be fixed just for accountability. As long as it does not effect in a negative way to the law abiding citizen that is a respectable gun owner. That's going to be the issue. I have another friend that had his Dad pass away. His dad's hand guns he never found he doesn't know if his dad got rid of them or if one of his brothers took them. At least if the county sent out a letter to his dad realized he passed, have no record of transfer then they can put those guns on a hot list as missing. -
Back in the 80's I knew a guy who later told me that he used to jack does with a 22 on the side of the road. Crack a glow stick and mark the area. After 2 he would go sit in the diner then go back gut them cut head and legs off and throw them in his trunk. Bring them down to Chinatown in the city and they would pay $15 a pound. I don't know if he was for real or not but he was from the Bronx. There was to much detail in the story for him to make it up. Karma is a bitch he was badly hurt in the 90's by being hit on his motorcycle by ......yep a Doe. Last i new he moved to Maryland.

Thanks. I didn't think it meant anything, but the guy installing my rug was all excited. I guess it doesn't take much with him.

What is the deal with having double white patches on a deer? age? Out of all my mounts I have one big guy with a double patch. The rug guy came over to replace the rug and said wow a double patch. I didn't even notice until he said it.

I hunted sterling years ago. Don't you need to get a permit? I did years ago did they change that?
-
Nice job congratulations on both the deer and that Hunt.

Try to do something for the agriculture tax relief. In Dutchess you need 7 Acres. That maybe all NYS. Idk. But my brother did it he has goats and chickens. Also check with 4H kids need land for the things they do.

Haha yes , my doe has something like that on her also I think the neighbor shot her with a BB gun at some point. My profile picture is my girl. Since she was a baby I took care of her now she hangs out in my yard. And yes I rehabilitate before everyone starts.

So I hunt the property next to a greenway trail. This morning at 7:30 my friend tells me a nice buck is chasing a doe and coming your way. I hunt a ground blind I made from fallen trees. All of a sudden I hear this loud crashing coming to my right when the deer should be coming from my left. I look and there is this guy in street cloths coming down this steep ridge. He was walking right toward me. I knew it wasn't the property owner. I started videoing him so I had some kind of documentation incase he was a tree hugger. He kept coming right for me. I realize he didn't see me so I waited till he got 5 ft to me and I got up and said "What the F are you doing" he jumped and his face got all contorted and he screamed like a little girl. Hahahaha he said I am on the nature trail . I told him he wasn't even close to the trail and to follow the stream down and he would get to the trail. But to see his face was priceless. I only wear an orange hat so I took it off when I saw him coming. The tree huggers call the cops every year on me thinking they own the property . So I don't wear much orange.

On youtube they all do it hanging by the head. They skin down the neck to the shoulders then put a golf ball under the hide and put a rope with a slipknot around the ball. Than pull with truck or quad. Comes off like a glove. I did it from the legs down and I only had to sin 4 inches of the neck. Here is one I found.....https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_RGiSO7pGp0

I have seen the air compressor one but never tried that.

I was a butcher back in the 90's . I cut a lot of deer and hand skinned everyone. I tried the trick with the golf ball and my quad winch tonight. I have to say Wow that was amazing. Has anyone ever skinned a deer that redneck way? The only problem is if you were going to mount the head it won't work.
