  1. Had a porcupine climb right up my tree to my stand while I was bowhunting. That was cool. I didnt want to shoot it because I didnt know what I would have done with it after. None the less very cool. The thing had to be at least 30-40lbs. Biggest porkie I ever saw in the wild.
  2. I dont take the chance. I bring nothing but a bottle of room temp water.
  3. Just saw this and wanted to bring to attention of any TC Venture owners. http://www.realtree.com/hunting/articles-and-how-to/outdoor-news/tc-venture-rifle-recall
  4. Not sure if you are familiar with Brooklyn but there is a Italian baker called Villabate on 18th ave & 70th street. They dont make it all the time so you would have to call ahead. If you google them you will find it.
  5. Ok so here it is, a wiki description and a picture of the pudding: The pudding is a sweet cream based chocolate fondant bitter, recognized traditional food product of Basilicata . It is traditionally prepared in the period of Carnival , along with other sweets such as chat . The pudding is eaten accompanied by Savoy , who also garnish the bowl. In the kitchens of Liguria , Marche , Abruzzo (where eaten spread on bread ), Calabria and Campania . The pudding is flavored with blood, fresh pork , which provides him with a characteristic acidic taste. In some Italian regions, the sale to the public of the blood, pork was banned in 1992 , which is why the preparation of the pudding should only take place immediately after slaughtering.
  6. Can anybody tell me how to attach a picture. I used to be able to attach files and now I cannot????
  7. That is funny right there. This could go on all day! lmao
  8. Whoa! You are going into a whole different thread lol
  9. He is 57. His dad used to do it but he passed two years ago.
  10. You got it. Its an authentic Italian bakery that makes it in what used to be a Italian neighborhood but it is now quickly becoming predominantly Chinese!
  11. If you are ever in Brooklyn I can tell you where to get it at an amazing Italian bakery. Not as good as homemade but close.
  12. Thank god its lunch time. Damn I have not gotten any work done today! What a surprise!
  13. The reason we cut the throat is to get the blood immediately because we make a pudding out of it. Sounds nasty but when made properly you would think it is an exotic high end chocolate pudding!
  14. Well actually we slow cook it in a brick oven so no worries of a bear getting to it. We have to worry about which one of our guys is gonna sneak a taste!
  15. Some of us are heading up tonight and Pig will be slaughtered tomorrow morning around 6am. Dinner should be ready about 6pm when the whole crew arrives!
  16. lol. No actually we dont shoot the pig. It is slaughtered by knife and the oldest member of our crew gets the honor! Bit of an old school Italian tradition.
  17. It seems more people are excited over killing a pig and having a pig roast than actually hunting lmao!
  18. Yeah most of the guys I hunt with are older than me so they have slowed down a bit. Plus we have a opening weekend tradition that we slaughter a pig and then have a pig roast so they are all more excited about that lol. I dont mind because that leaves the entire property to me!
  19. Cant let that hold you down man. I saw two does the entire season last year. It was a bit discouraging because the land ownership around our property has changed and it has drastically affected the deer herd but I think to myself that there is more than just seeing the deer. I look forward to the time I spend in the woods and getting out of the city and not to mention the time I spend with my hunting buddies. They are not exactly the best hunters because they go out into the woods for ten minutes then come back but none the less we still have a great time together.
  20. Definitely wouldnt stop my wife. I would need something bigger especially after breaking the news to her that we would be spending thanksgiving upstate hunting instead of with her family. lmao
  21. Well put. I am a bow hunter as well and exactly as stated above, the limit to every weapon needs to be realized by the handler and as my previous post states, my .410 would smoke a deer at 50 yards without hesitation but beyond 75 yards it would be questionable. Any shot that is questionable should not be taken and in my book is unethical regardless of weapon!
