  1. Aboslutely. I will drive to the northern most tip of NY if I have to. It just makes you mad that they put out these laws and you try to abide by them and then you have poor results.
  2. And if s**t ever hit the fan we would be the one that gets in trouble for not doing things in accordance with the law.
  3. Go figure. They want us to register our guns but then dont know how to help us.
  4. Thats why I wanted to go to a local guy and they do the registration for you but that looks like it wont be happening.
  5. Thats correct. They can charge whatever they want for a transfer. However if a private sale is conducted the only thing the FFL dealer has to do is a background check. They do not do any transfer. The seller and the buyer must handle all of that and submit any necessary registration forms.
  6. Correct. They are not supposed to charge you a transfer fee for a private sale. Just a $10 fee for the background check but apparently they dont have to do it if they dont want to so basically it is pay what they say or they wont do it at all.
  7. What I cant figure out is why these guys as dealers wouldnt properly educate themselves and why the hell are they turning people away instead of trying to help them. For godsake these guys are the ones that are supposed to properly learn the laws this way they can help their customers. It has become insanity. I swear I almost punched one guy in the face for the way he spoke to me instead of trying to properly help me or just tell me he is not interested in doing any business at this time.
  8. I live in Staten Island and I am in the market to purchase a new rifle and shotgun. I have been to all my local guys that I used to deal with for some of my other purchases and everybody has become ignorant. Either they have no comprehension of the new laws and are afraid to do any business or they think they no the new laws but in reality have no clue and wont sell me what I want. The ignorance and attitudes that I have been given by any nyc dealers is unbelievable. They wont accept a transfer from an outside source and accept delivery as my FFL dealer. To do a private transfer for a private sale they want over a $100 and by law they are not allowed to charge more than $10 so when you tell them that they say they are not interested in doing the transfer. Now obviously I can go upstate and I am sure it would be a bit easier but this sucks that I cant get a gun anymore at home. Anybody else experiencing this non-sense???? P.S. I am not looking for anything crazy. I am looking for a Remington 700 Anniv. Edition and a Remington nitro mag tactical pump shotgun.
  9. I eat there almost everyday! Best riceball parm!
  10. Welcome. I work in Brooklyn, live in Staten Island and hunt up in Sloansville. There is a small hunting store on New Utrecht ave & 80th st but they are a bit over priced and the guy is a bit of a douche. You are better of going to Jersey or upstate for your hunting gear. Good luck!
  11. Hate to tell you but that happens all over! Even here in great ole NY! Its called exotic game hunting and its a big business!
  12. Tell me how this state gets away with it. Thats all I really want to know?
  13. I agree. Right away people hear fenced ranches and think they are going to hunt a deer in a playpen but in reality these ranches are bigger than any continuous tract of land in ny. I havent done it and I wouldnt hunt a 50 acre fenced ranch but we are talking 1000+ acres ranches.
  14. Understandable and aggreable but not all of Adirondack park's 6 million acres is public and not all that is public is huntable. And that chart that was posted by d-bone20917 does not depict huntable public land so it is irrelevant. And to all of those that believe Texas is nothing but a "corn-flicker" type hunting then you are very misinformed and seriously need to stop watching hunting videos. Yes that is a common practice there and it is not of my likings but not everyone participates in that not to mention if you are hunting public land then that is going to be some good ole fashion stalk and still hunts. And not to beat a dead horse and it doesnt really belong on this thread, "corn-flinging" happens alot here and more than you know, the difference is there it is legal and nobody hides the fact and here it is not legal and kept a secret. I speak from experience when I say all of the locals near my hunting camp in 4A have been caught baiting. Anyways this has gone way off subject but as you can see I have my sights set on Texas in the future. I am sure there are better places but it sure isnt here in NY which is what this thread is all about.
  15. Not arguing at all. I am just clarifying a misconception about Texas and fact is there is over 1.2 million public acres available for hunting. I had the same misconception until I actually went down there and learned all about it.
  16. FYI there is over 1.2 million acres of public hunting land in texas, which includes a much broader range of game animals that can be taken so I would say that is not too shabby and more than enough for my needs.
  17. Everything comes at a price. Obviously our freedom and gun rights are now coming at a price here in NY!
  18. Possibly but today everyone has a price. In NY the problem is so many city liberals buy up property upstate so there is no chance in hell you can ever hunt them even at a price.
  19. It is true there is not alot of public land but there is plenty of free-roam ranches and lots more people that are willing to let you hunt their land compared to here in NY. You can still actually knock on someones door there and ask for permission to hunt and have a high success rate. FYI my parents are having more of a winter so far where they are than we are having here in NYC. They actually get snow and frigid temperatures. Nothing like we experience of course but they get a good mix. The summer is usually pretty unbareable though typically 100+ degrees.
  20. Speaking from experience, My parents lived in NY all their lives and always struggled financially with both of them working two jobs. 4 years ago they picked up and moved to Frisco Texas and would not dream of coming back. Since being there they have been able to work less, make more money, get a nice house in a beautiful neighborhood with great schools and my stepfather for the first time in his life became a gun owner (.45 Sig Sauer, I am so jealous). He walked up to the counter, filled out a form and left with his first pistol after a free 1 hour lesson on the on-site range. What is totally crazy is that you see regular people walking the streets with their carry guns exposed and I actually feel completely safe. It is a complete different life over there. When I go visit it feels like you are truly free over there and are in a different era. Respect is of the utmost importance amongst fellow citizens and everyone addresses each other by sir or ma'am regardless of age or race. Dont get me wrong I am sure there are downsides and problems amongst the state but I for one have plans to retire down there. I would go now but my wife is not willing to go now because of all her family that is in NY.
  21. Exactly! So how the hell could this be passed as a law when in fact it has nothing to do with how lethal the weapon is. Pointless law! And that is what angers me. If the law is truly purposeful and would actually make a difference in these violent crimes and mass murders then I would be willing to bend but most of these laws in my eyes will have no affect.
  22. To me this is just alot of senseless motions that will do nothing but aggravate law abiding gun owners.
