  1. Argh! Where in 3M was this? I have an either sex Jawa tag I haven't filled yet... Anyway, like I was sayin', Jawa is the fruit of the desert. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, Jawa-kabobs, Jawa creole, Jawa gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple Jawa, lemon Jawa, coconut Jawa, pepper Jawa, Jawa soup, Jawa stew, Jawa salad, Jawa and potatoes, Jawa burger, Jawa sandwich. That- that's about it.
  2. Hunting a certain state park in 3m yesterday. Get in to a spot (1 car per spot) an hour before legal light, set up and patiently wait over some established trees bordering swamp. 7:20; a hunter in blaze is crashing through the woods, stops 50 yards from me and yells out "hey, you hunting?", Meanwhile I'm wearing my blaze vest and hat holding a shotgun. Face palm. He leaves noisily and that's that. Hour later, I'm hearing movement, getting excited when I just can't hold back a sneeze. Let one go, and I'm thinking the spot is blown. Nope, guy with binos and no blaze (birdwatching? hiking?) yells out "bless you!" 30 yards behind me. Another face palm. Upset, I decide to take off for lunch and feed my soul with some delicious leftovers. Decide to get back in there at another spot for afternoon hunt, same park. Park at a spot, decide to walk on an established trail to a field. Not more than 10 min in I almost get run over by a mountain biker that clips the left side of my pack splashing muddy water over me. No warning, no "sorry" nothing. I'm obviously upset, but decide not to let this ruin my day. Set up off a nice field, pry off some ticks that are crawling and wait for some movement. An hour before legal sunset, I see some heavy set guy panting along a nearby trail going to the field I'm set up by. He stops and I kid you not, starting taking out pelican cases, and starts flying a DRONE... Meanwhile, he HAD to have seen me in all my blaze glory 50 yards away. I'm just done with this day and head to the parking lot and call the DEC ECO. Said park only allows hunters during regular season and not every yahoo crashing through the woods or running over hunters on mountain bikes. Although I did meet an old timer local who asked me if I learned my lesson; "that's why you carry birdshot and fill your drone tag." Thoughts? Was it too much to call the ECO to start giving out some fines?
  3. I had some broken shafts and some time, so I ordered a bunch of different ones off ebay. I *think* the ones that worked best on my 350 & 400 arrows were 2mil if that helps.
  4. It helps when applying to use the underside of a mouse pad and roll the shaft onto the wrap. As for curl, Jerkman did you try different wrap thicknesses?
  5. You can also get them off ebay. Search "arrow wraps" and you'll have a ton to choose from. I put reflective orange or yellow wraps on all my arrows, SO much easier to find. Use a flashlight and they stick out like a highway sign with high beams.
  6. Opening day in Beaver Meadow State Forest 7M, saw two doe run by me at 30 yards at my 9 o'clock just after legal light. Took a shot at one of them at 70 yards with shotgun when they stopped. Disappointing miss... Thought that would be it with all the noise (must have heard a dozen shots in first half hour of opening), but saw a large doe run about a half hour later. No chance for a shot though. Going to try Stewart soon. Any advice?
  7. Hey Guys, Long time lurker on the forum, second time posting. Had to unexpectedly cut my hunting trip to region 7 short this year, and I have two DMPs one each for 7R and 7J. Expecting the first kid to come in a few weeks and I can't see myself making it out that far this season. Don't want them to go to waste, so if anyone wants/needs them message me and I'll mail them to you. Don't suppose anyone has a spare 3M tag I can use? Trying to salvage my hunting season, and thought I'd try Stewart when we visit the in-laws this week.

  9. I've had good experiences with Smith Point Archery, they did my tune (which I did before a hunting season for expediency because of damage to my cams that caused a hairline in my riser where both were replaced under warranty...). I've tried a few others in Queens/BK, but unless you want to leave the bow or maybe feel a bit rushed if you want it same session, I would stick with Nassau/Suffolk. Don't know how fast you NEED it (although we're all bored and those turkeys are a callin'), Queens Archery did a decent setup as well, but in the PRE-COVID days that might mean leaving it for a few days, if they're still open right now that is... What are you looking to set up? Is it a brand new bow or are they replacement parts (if so, which?), strings, etc. IMO depending on what you're doing with your bow, it might be a relatively simple thing where any "enthusiast" with a bow press and lots of patience can do it, to setting up a whole system and paper tuning, dropping off nothing but the parts... Also, just noticed your handle. If BK, let me know what you need done. Might have other options for you.
