How thick are the boards you use?

Got mine at Gander Mountain, in and out in 5 minutes

Does anyone have any recommendations for an affordable target to shoot broadheads into? I really don't want to spend $100 for a "Block" target for the handful of broadhead-tipped bolts I'll fire into it each fall, especially since I already have a brand new bag style target for year round fieldpoint practicing. I've heard about the Black Hole Target available at Walmart but I'm reading mixed reviews about its stopping abilities.

Brought the Montec G5 100 grain Strikers last night at Gander Mountain, the fact that they're replaceable blades plus the advice of their bow-tech in addition to the $10 off sale greatly helped influence my decision
Thanks to all for the offered advice

I had a Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun lever action, the kick was very manageable, especially when wearing either a recoil pad or one's hunting jacket Beware however of the cost of ammo, close to $50 a box at my local Gander Mountain, which is why I recently traded it for a much cheaper to shoot Browning A-Bolt in 30-06. The price of the ammo is far more painful then the recoil of the gun.

I ve been shooting Remington Core-Loctks since I brought my first 30/30, once sighted in they consistently hit what I am aiming at, being I am not out to being some kind of marksman I find no need to even consider any sort of "premium" ammo, for deer any bullet in the vital will get the job done. And as I see it the box of 20 Remingtons for under $20 a box is the best bullet on the market!

Being I'm new to hunting with a crossbow I am interested in recommendations for which broadhead I should use, the choices seem overwhelming. I will be hunting whitetails (hoping I might get even lucky and be presented with the chance at a bear).

Go to any dollar store and get one of those rubber grip sheets, I think they call them some sort of "liner", they're all you need to easily remove any bolts from any target

Pharmaceuticals are always helpful

Here's a simple solution, next time you talk with him just come out and tell him that you saw he had put out the salt lick and did he know it was illegal in NY?

One of those rubber grip sheets available in any dollar store makes removing arrows/bolts from any target a breeze

I plan on stopping by the Visitors Center sometime this weekend to pick up a trail map before setting out on some scouting trips, thanks everyone for all the info and tips

WOLC123, I have taken up the crossbow because after having shoulder surgery I simply am unable to pull the weight of a bow any longer

Has anyone here hunted Sterling Forest and if so can anyone recommend where in the park to hunt?

Picked up a Buck Commander target from Walmart last night for $40 but after reading reviews read that it won't stop crossbow bolts so I guess I'll be bringing it back.

Thinking of trying out the insulated boards, do you shoot into them horizontally or vertically?
