At hunter safety they said "Cover it up, it saves the meat, it keeps people from getting upset" So if you smack it with your car and it dies a painful suffering death no biggie right? But if a hunter takes one out with one shot humanely and cares for it like a prized possession then there a sick murderous jerk. twisted world out there. Guarantee that deer lived a better life then the cow, pig or chicken in the frozen section. Funny story.....So its about 11:15pm driving home from work and up ahead I see flares out in the road. as I approach I see a guy setting down the last flare. I'm thinking oh crap must be a bad wreck. As I creep up to roll by I see that its not a wreck but a guy had hit a deer and then set out flares all around it so people wouldn't hit it. What he didn't do is kill it with the hit from the car. the poor bastard was flopping around in the road like a fish out of water. Must have clipped its back or stunned it. What a sight to behold this bizarre candle light vigil for the deer. Twisted world.....

So I'm looking around on the DEC site at fur bearers and small game stuff. It said that small game and fur bearers default to the local regulations for that area. Now I'm totally confused.... So in Dutchess County they only allow bow, crossbow, muzzle loader, shotgun, and handgun for regular deer season. Ok, I can work with that. What if I'm out hunting squirrels that means I cant use my .22 during regular deer season in dutchess? Or do these regulations only pertain to Deer hunting? http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/35010.html#mapdescriptions

what are you having done with the bear skins? I cant wait to get one.

You remember those videos they were selling for a while for dogs and cats. For the dogs it was squirrels and rabbits, and cats it was birds and mice. Always wondered if those really worked.

a guy on craigslist is selling that for $85. Looks good to me and a brilliant idea.

My neighbor was out repairing the roof of his jeep, it had a giant hole in the roof right in the center. He said a tree came down and punched a hole right through it. Now I'm thinking other wise. -
From the DEC web site BearResident and Nonresident hunters may take one bear by gun or bow each license year. In the Southern Zone, you may not shoot a cub or a bear that should be known to be a cub, shoot any bear from a group of bears, or shoot or take a bear from its den.

I'll help ya carry it out.

I saw this on the DEC web site today then saw this discussion so I thought I'd share. Makes me second guess eating pork..... Cooking Because of the possibility of trichinosis, bear meat should be treated with the same precaution as pork. The incidence of trichinosis in bear is less than two percent in New York, and with proper precautions, there should be no more concern for this disease than there is when eating pork. Trichina larvae are killed by two techniques - cooking and freezing. Minimum internal cooking temperature is 137F. Maximum freezing temperature is 5F for 20 days. In preparing bear meat for the table, it is important to remove as much fat as possible. Many hunters use the fat as suet in a bird feeder. When the above precautions are followed and the meat is prepared as outlined in the butchering section, bear meat can be treated as you would any good quality domestic meat. http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/bbhunting10.PDF

Hey Guys, My dad has been making pistol display cases and other exotic wood products for quite some time now. He has a little website and shop and its almost Christmas. He can also make custom pieces for you if you have an idea that you need produced. With a trace out of your firearm he can make custom foam/fabric inlays. Feel free to email him, his contact info is on the website. Thanks for looking and happy hunting! RPGNYEXOTICWOODPRODUCTS.NET

Carol on opening day......

I'm surprised he lasted this long, always off where he's not supposed to be. Look at his selection pool of women though. Pretty slim, might as well hit on the turtle eating chic I guess.

ironically its the scope im waiting on. I could just go with my 12 gauge and call it good. It would get the job done and I have a good skinning knife. I work sun up to sun down so it limits me to the weekends. By that time the wife has my time allocated already. I need a vacation.

I'm waiting on some new gear to come in the mail. Going not this weekend but next.
