I have 8m and 9j that I am not going to use. -
Thanks for the thoughts. I hung a new stand that is harder to see from the road. I left the other one there as a decoy. Hopefully, if he sees it empty he will move on. I will try to video tape and involve the Dec if needed. Hopefully he just doesn't see me there. Plus once XBow opens he will be hunting.

There is a decent 10 or that has been feeding in my field most of the summer. I hung a stand and anxiously awaited opening day. The stand is in a bit of an odd spot, about 300 yards across and open field from a reasonably busy road. I sat that spot opening day because the wind was right. About an hour before dark a neighbor if mine ( I recognize his truck) parked on the side of the road. When the first deer hit the field he laid on his horn and spooked the deer back into the woods. I didn't see anything else during that hunt. Now he has just done the same thing again. I have tried to speak to him but he is angry that I hunt because we are essentially hunting the same deer herd. Because of that we can't have a reasonable conversation he immediately starts cursing and name calling. Is there anything I can do here? Should I just relinquish the spot? Thanks

Anyone have a 9k willing to trade 9j or 8p?

Good on you for not hunting without your harness. It was the right answer that not everyone would have chosen.

This is why we hunt isn't it...

Man it happens fast...had three fawns run by my left I got ready to see if there was anything chasing them and in the field to my right I had 4 bucks chasing a doe. big 8, fork horn, Spike and a scrappy buck with both sides of his rack broke off. his mouth was open and he was beat. Problem is, there is no bringing that big boy off of that doe. I grunted and the there small ones came, the big one just stayed on that doe. Hoping she circles...

8P- dark to dark sit yesterday . 2 small bucks one at 9:30 and then 10am. nothing until does started moving at 2:30. 10 does/fawns. Had one doe still with fawns. Nothing trailing any of them. Been in the stand since 6am and no deer. 20+mph winds probably have them bedded .

How Early Before Sunrise Do You Get In Your Stand?
cleverscreenname replied to buffalojay83's topic in Bow Hunting
My rule is to be in the stand and ready to go an hour before legall sunup. A lot of the guys I hunt with feel it is excessive but I like having the darkness cover me on the way in and it gives the woods time to settle. Some days you can see quite far even an hour before sunrise. I am not sure it is the right answer but it is what I do. -
Also in Steuben, the last few days have been really slow. Not much movement even on cameras. I am also wondering...

Sorry for the bad pic...took me a second to figure out I was going to pass this decent half rack 8

Went back out this morning had deer snort at me and take off as I was walking in then nothing. Going to rest that piece of property for a couple days and head back after him.

He hasn't picked me out yet. I have 2 stands for different winds. We will see what the weather says for the tomorrow morning, tonight. He is a monster, would love to see him with a quarter inch steel tape on his antlers. Thanks for all the thoughts.

Yesterday morning I had a big main frame 10 plus some kickers come within 50 yards of my stand but couldn't get him closer. He spooked a bit when the neighbors started hammering ducks. Back in the same stand this morning and had a buck come in before legal shooting light. I couldn't tell if it was him or not but looked like a good deer. So my question is, do I try again tomorrow or do I rest this property and hunt elsewhere?

8P - had a decent 8 chasing a doe at first light thus morning and a small 6 following that pair 20 min later.
