  1. Great, I'll check back now and then, will likely order a few of the bird photos. BTW, if you are looking for destinations, I highly recommend the Allagash Wilderness Waterway in Maine. My son and I canoed the length of the Waterway two years ago. Absolutely beautiful. We stopped counting Bald Eagles on day 3, at 15. Mergansers, loons, all kinds of ducks, etc., all abundant, not to mention the four legged creatures (moose are, um, big). People - not abundant. On the last day as we approached Allagash Village, the sight of a house seemed so incongruous, it was kind of jarring. Great fly fishing in the river, too, my son caught his first brook trout, a nice one. I'm dying to go back.
  2. Spectacular photographs!! Just amazing. I went to your website, thinking I might purchase one of the eagles. The loons and wood ducks are absolutely beautiful (and prices very reasonable). But I didn't see the eagles? Will you be offering any prints of those for sale?
  3. I'm new to this forum and haven't posted much, but have enjoyed reading. I didn't even know there was a support option. Had to hunt (ha ha) to find it. Just did my humble $10 and glad to do it. Maybe there should be a link on the forum main page so people are more likely to see it and make a contribution. Thank you to the site owner and everyone who contributes. jmark
  4. Wow - I'm new on this forum and don't know you, but reading that I had to close my office door. I'm very sorry for your loss, your father was a fine looking man, and from what you say, it went a lot deeper than that. Too soon gone, but in many ways he (and you and your brother) was a lucky man. Even to have the kind of relationship it sounds like you all had. Many do not. He went out happy and will always be remembered as he wanted to be. No man could ask for more. God bless you and your family, jmark
  5. Thank you, grampy. I was born in the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg area (Fayettenam, we used to call it). Raised mostly in Charlotte. I spent a lot of time in the Southern Appalachians in my younger days. When all the other college kids would head off to the islands, I would pack a backpack and head into the mountains. I've hiked and camped all over Pisgah. Linville was a regular weekend destination. I love that area, but I understand access is a little more complicated these days. Last I read, in some areas you have to get a permit to go in, and there's waiting lists etc. Sad. I took my family through the region a couple of years ago, showed them the stunning views, walked the Grandfather bridge, stood on Blowing Rock, etc. God I love it there. Anyway, thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to spending some time here. Mark
  6. Hi Folks, I just registered. Have read thru quite a few threads. Great forum, appreciate the opportunity to join. Not a new shooter, but haven't hunted in years. From NC but living in Westchester County. My son just turned 12, is shooting target rimfire and doing well. Has been persistent about wanting to hunt. After finally securing SWMBO's permission, we took a hunter ed class and got our licenses last month. Told him we'll start with small game, and he'll have to learn to shoot, dress, and cook what he kills before we move to bigger game. So, we're off to dispatch some squirrels! Hoping to get up to Sterling or Stewart over the holidays. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark
