Its like kudu hunting you always see a bull with something different then the last one you shot , not always about size each one has its own character . We have had rain the whole of last week and starting to clear up today , total of 4" for the week , we can't complain Feb march is our rainy months in the waterburg , we still need a good 10 inches over the next 2 months to get to our annual rainfall . But there is ample food and water in the bush at the moment making hunting quite challenging

Definitely enough gun for all African plains game , Was this a frontal shot on the wildebeest ? , the only ones I have had go straight down was on frontal shot and the obvious spine shot other than that they always go a surprising distance before retiring .

I always say there is a place for all in the sun , each outfit has something special and unique to give , that is why planing is a big part of the trip , you always have to find the place that caters to your needs and requirements , unfortunately there are some bad apples in the bunch but lucky with social media of today they don't get away with it so easily . Do your enquiries check references and go with what you feel comfortable with All the best Ryno

Hi Daveboone They are a good outfit and the eastern cape is a truly beautiful area to hunt and see , the garden route on your way to addo park is one of our nicest mountain ranges and you will be going trough all the small towns as you move down the coast each with its own unique atmosphere , also Capetown is a 45 min flight or 9hr drive from Port Elisabeth so however you want to do it mahy rent a car and take a 2 day drive to Capetown to see Table mountain visit some wineries and enjoy the sites of Capetown (I hope they have the water problem sorted out by then ) . and as mentioned there are a bunch of small towns like the town Uniondale that has a age old love ghost story and some people have claimed to see the girl standing next to the road but that's only if you are into things like this , also Gansbaai is one of the best greate White shark cage diving destinations in the world , just be prepared for cold water , I don't know if you are a golfer but there are some great golf courses all over that are as well , should you choose to rent a car don't travel with your rifle everyday , rather leave it with kings view or just use one of the rifles they have for you just one less thing to worry about . I'm sure you will have a great time and the internet is your friend , google what to do it the areas you will be going trough and see if there are things you like .planing the trip is part of the fun I'm sure this will be one that will stay with you a long time . Best regards Ryno

Are you maby talking about Port Elisabeth? . We are mainly based in the Limpopo province ,this is in the northern part of south Africa but we have hunting areas available all over South Africa and Mozambique as well as some great offshore fishing charters for black marlin and various other gamefish species , how many days are you guys looking at spending in south Africa ? The exchange rate is in your favour that is true and you can get a lot more bang for your buck in Africa .

Hi we are just trying to expand our horizons and get our name out there this forum caught my eye and I started posting. we are in mid summer at the moment so no snow for us now , although we very rarely get snow in south Africa , some of the mountain tops might have snow on them for 2-3 weeks but then melts away quite quickly there is a ski slope on the border of Lesotho (small island country within South Africa) and South Africa that is situated high in the mountains but they mainly use man made snow to keep the slope going . When do you plan on coming to South Africa , you know this place is like a drug you will start planning your return trip while still on your first trip .

Hi , there is some criteria to go trough yes , it differs with each country . You usually have to attend a 10-15 day course where you would work trough the law regarding the state or like we call them province you are applying for , also in this 15 days you would do some practical task like judging horn size and maturity of animals ,skinning and preparation of trophies , tracking ect . After completing the practical course there is also a written examination to pass regarding the laws of the particular province you are applying for . Once this is all done you would need to register yourself with the proper authority and start gaining experience . Should you wish to become a dangerous game qualified professional hunter ,you would have accompany a dangerous game qualified professional hunter for a minimum of 60 hunting days on various dangerous game animals such as leopard, lion, buffalo, hippo ext Only after this professional hunter signs you off you can register yourself as a dangerous game qualified professional hunter To accomplish this all takes the average guy about 2-3 years
