    wow. talk about symmetrical.

This deer was killed opening morning. The next day his sister killed a 152" 14pt off of the same foodplot!

Yeah I don't worry with you, that is why I was like good thing you are around, lol. You do a good job and I just appreciate having the confidence that I don't have to worry about it. Something to be said for that in today's world. Maybe talk your wife into buying a formal shop and going FT? Take the local taxi world over!

We're almost there! I think I can unbox the TV and start putting mounts up next week!

A buddy of mine who also does part time taxidermy in town just sold all his taxidermy stuff and is moving to Tennessee. I'll have to definitely start turning people way this fall or go full time. Taking in 45 heads last season was MORE than enough for me!!!

  3. Here's another beautiful 144" Steuben County gun buck ready to head home with a buddy of mine. I really like the full sneak pose. I'm especially happy with how this guy turned out since he came back from the tannery with a severely cut up eye on one side and some sizable ear tears.

Same - I've had shoulder mounts and Euros done by seven different taxidermists over the years. I'm running less than 50% on my experiences as far as having a good business exchange. A taxidermist who can master the art/science of the craft and the business side....is worth their weight in gold.

My hunting partner and I are working with an 8th for our turkey mounts...add that one to the poor experience list. Missing deadlines is one thing, failing to communicate is another, but then you get into all the other BS. Guy sent my hunting partner a photo of his bird with damage on it/missing feathers on one side. Wanted to change the pose - he is starting a month after it was due back (2020 bird). Here's the funny thing, this guy is highly recommended, and that bird had no damage there when dropped off. So much so, that the hunt was filmed for TV production - it's literally on multiple High Def cams and no damage to the bird. It went from the field straight to this taxi - not stopping past Go. Right to the taxi. Within an hour.

Good thing Jason is around for deer.

Your two wall peds will be coming back soon, I promise...lol. I'm only able to mount 1 to 2 heads per weekend but my ultimate goal is to be wrapped up by Oct 1. Besides, your mancave isn't even complete yet!

Any daylight pictures of this guy?  I'm curious if I could even tell its a different cape.

I don't have any on hand other than this. He was a pretty distinctive light colored deer with a orange forehead.

wouli d have been hilarious if you put that rack on a tiny doe cape just for a pic to send to him and say "hey, your mount is ready" haha

I may have to try that on one of Phade's bucks that are in the waiting que...lol

Kudos to you for mounting him with one good eye and one that he lost as he appeared in life. Many taxidermists like to repair natural flaws in animals that they mount. I believe that mounts should include any naturally occurring flaws or defects the animal possessed in life and should be as realistic as possible. You did a nice job.      valoroutdoors.com

The one thing that kind of sucks about this particular mount is that it's not the original cape. The guy spined the buck and as he was flopping around on the ground he took another shot and blew a chunk out of the base of the antler and the bullet exited out of his ear and totally destroyed it!

  8. A pictoral history...

2017 at 3.5 yrs old. He apparantly lost his eye between November 3 and 11 that year

Only grew one antler in 2018 as a 4 yr old

No velvet pics of him in 2019 as his range appearred to have shifted to some beanfields about a mile away. He returned in late November and stayed on cam til shedding in mid January.

Once again in 2020 I had very few summer pics of him but he returned in October...

  9. I just finished up this bruiser, a 6.5 yr old buck that I called "One Eye." The deer first showed up on cam right after season in 2016 as an average 2.5 year old 7pt. He managed to evade hunters until he popped out on the neighbor's cloverfield at the wrong time during the opening week of rifle season. It was a little bittersweet to mount a buck that you have 5 years of history with but didn't end up tagging. Anyways, I think that he turned out really awesome.
