That's now on the shopping list. Thanks for the info bud. Gotta grab up a grinder, gun, and casing filer. Best part is... kid and fiancé love jerky and snack sticks so I won't even get yelled at .
-
When you say 50/50 beef..... is he using pre ground beef or is he grounding up steaks????
-
I'm going to Cabela's in Delaware tomorrow. I think u just sold me into a jerky gun lolol.
-
Thanks for the info. I've never tried a grind yet. Last year I got on a jerky kick. I'd buy every on sale London broil at the market and slice it super thin then toss it into the dehydrator. I'm not huge on venison roasts so that all got turned into jerky also. I had it down to a science but I over did this time not taking into consideration the ultra thin slice with the meat slicer.
-
Yahhhh it came out amazing. Beers and jerky at my place!!!! Lol. A tad to tough but heyyyy, still tastes great. I'd prolly only do 2 hours next time with the thin cuts I used.

The really crappy this is.... it's not even Lyme that's my worry. It's that powesian virus that has been reported in Saratoga county. One bite is all it takes. No having the tick on you for 24-48 hrs. It eats at ur nervous system and then has a very high probability to kill you. No cure. Only treatments. I didn't even wanna go in my own back yard early in the summer.

I get it from Walmart. Yellow and black spray bottle made by Sawyer. Cost about $9 bucks. Treat your clothes in a well ventilated area. Give a nice even spray covering all layers of the clothes. Let sit for 2 hours(4 if humid). Last for 42 days(if not washed). Keep well away from cats. Very bad for them. Not bad for dogs says sawyer. I called poison control and they said if you get it on ur skin, just wash with soap and water. I watched many videos and the ticks last about 10 seconds then start to drunk walk and eventually fall off and die. I watch a mosquito land on me and it immediately died with its beak still stuck in my pant leg. I have not had a single tick on me at all this season and I've only been in deep woods. Love the stuff. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Bait and blind was not there on Oct 2. Bow opened in the south on the Oct 1. Pile showed up on Oct 6 with a blind and a fresh gut pile and skin not far away. ECO went ballistic when I stated this to him. He claimed blind has always been there and he's been investigating it for 4 years. I politely told him he was wrong and he fired back. I explained that I have pics of a passing doe from the 2nd that clearly shows no blind. After that he became very threatening and started saying I put it up, am growing pot, he's got me on video for the last 4 years (mind you this is my 1st year hunting this area), etc..... At that point I asked for supervisor numerous times and he refused. He told me he wanted me to meet him. I said fine.... with a supervisor present. A lot more small talk and this and that's.....

As a kid (from age 5 to aprox age 11) while going to the state fair in Syracuse, the highlight of my fair trip was going to the DEC building to look at all the fish and exhibits. Right after the building, I would make my grandparents take me to the outside building to get a pine sapling to plant at home. 30 years later, those saplings stand about 7 or 8 feet high. When age 11 came around, I took my hunter safety in Utica NY and waited until age 12 just to go to the state fair DEC building to get my 1st small game stamp and back tag. Still have the tag and stamp til this day. Around age 21, I took the DEC exam and received a 97 but didn't go to academy due to family reasons. Long story short..... DEC was also my dream job and I can't rationalize this guys attitude and lack of judgement. Makes me sick to my stomach. I definitely feel yah Val.

Helmut - I really truly don't wanna poke the bear let along the poppa bear BUT he Is supposed to be held at a higher standard. Very disrespectful to my fiancé and myself. When I took my oath years ago.... I vowed to protect and serve. I believe in the badge. I believe in protecting the environment and it's game and the people(hunters) who use it.

Growalot - I'm like omg that idea the most. Albany was on my checklist but not in that order. I like ur idea. As far as the conversation went, I told him that my fiancé could hear every word and that he was being rude and he shit back with "I don't care who she is or where she is." Lit her right up I'll tell yah. Biggame - Don't yah love that rule.... as long as a single person in a two person conversation, it can legally be recorded. I guess if you(I) can stay calm it's beneficial. Turkey - I was pondering that. He threw out the word investigation. I'm curious to know if he could pull a ticket or arrest out of his rear saying I hindered an ongoing investigation. He most certainly didn't do anything to fix it. He took the rooting coat and left it right in the middle of the parking area. I'd love to bag the licks, corn, and hide and deliver it to the barracks for him. The voices instead my head are screaming bad idea though lol. I really do appreciate all the info and suggestions. Keep em coming. I'll keep you guys updated as the day(s) go on.

Thanks Rob. I'm by no means a cop hater but in today's world, this cat is not what we need running around.

100% agree bugs. I asked him three times for his superiors contact info and he refused. The net is a wonderful thing. I got his barracks info, LT and Capt's info. If none of that yields an apology to my fiancé and myself then come NY office of inspector general and then the good ol governors office (not gonna start a political topic). NY brags about having a superior and highly effective encon program. NY requests citizen tips to help achieve the goal. I've never once read that you will be accused of the crime when your trying to help them solve the crime..... especially one that's been stated to be "under investigation for four years."

Oh man, he's a beut. Good luck and Godspeed.

Steve, you must be a mind reader lol ;-).

Please don't mind the picture. It's not burnt, it's just the color of the marinade. :-/

Wife purchased a Cabela's meat slicer and dehydrator for me last year. Grabbed a nicely packed and frozen doe roast from last year and decided to put both tools to the test I gotta say, damn good jerky. Batch of smokehouse and a batch of Hawaiian. Yummy yummy and tender as hell. Only downfall, now I gotta fill the freezer.

Thanks grampy. Nice to meet yah. I have another area that's perked my senses. Guess there's no better time than now to dig in..... and it's out of this god forsaken county hehe.
-
OMFG, I think I just sharted a little. Two thumbs up and will definitely be showing it and sending it to everyone I can think of.
-
I very much agree and told him he won't see me there ever again. Just a gut punch with the work I put in and the ECO coming off as more hindering than helping.
-
Since I've been a youngin, I've always tried to do right when it comes to the environment. Coming from A background in L.E. and the fire service, I always try to help the supposed "good guys." I told this jerk that if this is what to expect when calling in a tip, I'll never call in another.
-
Thanks zag. I completely agree. My girl said it sounded like he was protecting another hunter and the turf. I tried calling the supervisor which doesn't have a name in the manual and it took me to dispatch. I requested one to call me. If I held my breath while waiting, I wouldn't be typing this reply lol.
-
Wish I thought of that prior to the conv :-/
-
Lol... Thanks Steve. Trust me very much, he got every mental middle finger and swear word from both me AND my fiancé. He told me if he caught me on forest property, I'd have my weapon seized and be cited for hunting a bait pile.
