  1. Out for what might be my last sit. Heard more single shots in last 45 mins then I have all season. They’re either on their feet or there are a lot of pushes happening. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I’ve sat this property in various locations 7 times since gun opener and didn’t see a deer and thats after seeing deer every sit during bow. Dad whipped up some fried tenderloin for dinner too when we got home. Yes, I was tucked in a hedgerow next to a big tree. Got lucky actually, I had just stood up and about to check the other side of the hedgerow when I saw him. Was able to get rifle repositioned on my tripod from a standing position and take a clean 120 yard shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Got out for a couple hours this morning and again in the afternoon. Saw 15 deer in total, on the day, some I’m sure we’re duplicates. About 5 mins before last light a decent size 6 pointer stepped out and ate one of my hand loaded 308s. Quartering towards shot so the exit wound is a little far back. Surprisingly ran about 100 yards with tons of internal damage. Tenderloins we’re all cut up and one lung was was basically gone. Not a huge rack but a solid bodied deer for sure. This is the first deer I’ve harvested with my new Savage 110 and the first deer I’ve brought home and hung up in my garage. My two girls were so excited to be apart of the process when we got home. Thankful for another harvest. May slip out tomorrow afternoon for a little doe patrol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Not sure why the judgement over a simple statement. He/we’re grateful for the gift every time it happens, especially in these uncertain times. Neither my dad or I are rack hunters. We’re out there for the enjoyment and to provide for our family. He was upset that he misidentified the deer, not that he could have seen buttons at that distance, had nothing to do doe/buck. 5. My dad took a shot at what he thought was a doe but turned out to be a button buck at 375 yards. Landed a lung/liver shot and dropped him were he stood. Upset it was a BB but impressed with the shot and grateful for some meat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Of course I get a pic of this guy the day after taking my bow buck! Camera been out at least a month and this is the only pic of him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Makes me think of my dad. He’s always been comfortable sitting super still on the ground and as he’s gotten older he almost prefers it. He can sit in a spot that appears super exposed, sit so still, and be covered up with deer. Good times/memories for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Got it done this morning with a decent 6 point. Had a bad initial shot and spined him. Dropped hard and couldn’t use rear legs. Had to climb down and put another one in him. Think I dropped my bow arm rather than bending at the waist. He came in hard on the tail of a doe and it happened so fast. Terrible I had a bad shot but glad I was able to quickly end it and put some meat in the freezer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Beautiful morning to be in the woods. Here some rustling and grunting behind me. Hopefully they stick around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Got out tonight to a buddies spot. Early season rules, no doe and mature bucks only. Really hope I don’t regret passing on this fella. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Dad and I got out for a bit this afternoon. Light rain wasn’t too bad and it all but stop about golden hour time. Dad had a button and 4 pt less them 10 yds but they caught his scent or some movement and bolted. Couple doe around but no shot for me. Back at it in the am and evening tomorrow. 13. Great buck. Congrats! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Up and getting going for my first morning sit of the year. Passed on a doe with fawn on Friday from this spot. Hoping they’ll have a few more friends with them this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Posted up on an alfalfa field edge hoping to catch the buck that was out of range on Friday. He walked past my blind setup at the bottom of the field and then faced off with me after sunset at the top.
  16. Dad showed up about an hour after shot and we started tracking. Found him less than 50 yards from shot in the thicket. Small 3 point. So I’m hunting with my dads lever action 3030. Deer comes out from where I expect him too. Line up shot, give him a “meh”, pull hammer back to take off safety, pull trigger and “click”. Gun never chambered a round when I racked the lever after loading. Deer still standing still looking. I slowly work the level, line another shot and bang. Single lung and liver shot. Liver was disintegrated. Quick recovery. Capes and dressed hanging for tomorrow.
  17. Took about a 60 yd shot on a small buck. Initial blood trail, in snow, is heavy but very dark, almost black. Waiting on dad to determine how to proceed.
  18. 3rd sit this year first time in a new location. Hunter cleared under brush to help ventilate field. Destroyed my cover but can see much farther into woods. A bit windy so they maybe hunkered down but the wind is in my favor.
  19. Second sit of the season, first post here. Came up on 4 doe right near my stand and let them walk off. They knew something was up but don’t think they made me. Hopefully they come back. Good luck all.
