I had one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had in the woods today. Not only did I see two of the biggest deer I’ve ever seen on the hoof but I damn near stepped on them! My buddy and I got permission on a 50 acre chunk of river bottom near one of our other spots and decided to take advantage of the rain to scout it. Long story short, it’s completely hammered with rubs and scrapes and just as we are getting into the final stretch of cover to scout a huge 10 pointer stands up spitting distance away from me and let out the most aggressive blow I’ve ever heard before taking off. I shoot my buddy a text telling him a shooter running towards him and an ever bigger buck comes into the bedding from a logging road and has a stare down with me at less than five yards. I had a shot opportunity at his neck but decided to pass. By how tore up the area is I think they must be spending a lot of time back here and should come back. The first deer was probably 150-160 class and the second one was a 6x6 pushing 170-180. I’m thinking one of them must have had a doe and the other was lingering close by. Regardless I’ll be putting a lot of seat time in next week on this property. We’ve had a few 150-160 class bucks over the years on our spots but I’ve never had an opportunity to hunt a true booner Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kind of. A few of my places are a couple miles away and another is more like 4-5 if I had to guess. Last two years a 160+ has been harvested on mine and several years ago a 190” non typical was. Rush and Mendon are both loaded with huge deer. I have a spot on the east side of Mendon with multiple 140+ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Back out at it again. Sitting on a secluded clover plot between big ag and a thick creek bed. Already had a 3 year old pop out into the field for a few minutes before going back into the timber. I’ll be happy if I have half as much action as this morning... I think it was 14 bucks, 5 of which were 3+ and two which were shooters but of course shooters were the only ones not to come into range. Good luck to all those out today and tomorrow AM! I’ve got a Halloween party tonight with the gf that I’m going to try really hard to not get too drunk at so I can make it out in the AM Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Absolute madness in the woods. I’ve lost track of the number of bucks I’ve seen - definitely over ten. I’ve seen at least four 3+ year olds including two three year olds within forty and I passed but of course the older ones were further out. So much chasing. Pretty sure I have a hot doe here currently getting tended by one of the three year olds. I had a feeling the temp drop and high winds was going to put them on their feet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

8H and 8F: I'm seeing tons of new scrapes and rubs every time I go in the woods. Also seeing lots of chasing but just from 1-2 year olds. Still not seeing a ton of mature buck daylight movement but when I do they aren't paying much attention to does and are tearing up scrapes or trees. The one exception is i watched a giant buck tend a doe in a cut bean field a couple days ago. I watched them walk in from a couple hundred yards and they were never more than a few yards apart and he just bedded up and watched her feed right in the middle of the field. I'm hoping this cold front will help kick things into gear... afternoons have had better action for me but that should start to switch to mornings - or at least that's how it's gone historically.

Out on a big brassica and clover plot in 8H. I was planning to sit another property down the road a few miles but when I pulled up the farmer was tilling the bean field right by the stand I wanted to sit. Not a huge fan of the stand I’m in but didn’t have time to do a hang and hunt or get to one a little closer in. Already have a few does out in the field, hoping something with antlers comes out soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good hunt tonight. Couple instances of 1-2 year old bucks chasing does and got to watch a giant buck tend a doe 500ish yards away. Thought about making a ground stalk but not enough day light to close the distance. My buddy and I knew there was a big buck here but don’t have any cameras running. No idea score wise other than his beams looked massive in the binos from 500 yards away. First time I’ve seen a buck tending this season too so guess the first ladies are ready for action. Great sign for this weekend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ground hunting just inside the tree line overlooking a bean field that about half of got harvested today. Plan was to be in a stand for a E to SE wind according to the weather but once on the ground here its blowing more like N to NE so had to change plans. No chair so not going to be the most comfortable hunt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, I agree. It wasn’t really giving me many issues until yesterday. I have hunted from the ground quite a bit, depends on the set up. Most of my spots are field edges without a ton of cover so stands work better.... but I think I’m going to be trading in my hang on for my chair for a bit haha. Or hunting some pre hung stands we have Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
