  1. Sounds like the deer just got a good reason to move to your woods Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. My cameras in 8F are saying the same thing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Sounds similar to me. I’m pretty sure there’s enough does in heat now that the big bucks are mostly locked down. Still plenty of does to go and I’ve been seeing them and some small bucks this morning but nothing mature. I think I got one cell cam pic of a 2-3 year old earlier and nothing last night whereas I usually have at least 1-2 mature bucks every day somewhere on camera. Eventually the big boys will be on their feet again looking for the next doe and we’ll probably see an increase in activity here somewhere over the next few days if I had to guess Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. When it works it’s awesome… just gotta log the seat hours this time of year. You’re in Bloomfield / canandaigua right? I’m not far at all. Mostly rush, honeoye falls area and the burbs in Pittsford and Perinton Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Slow morning here in 8H. Cams pretty slow too, especially of big bucks. I’m guessing a lot are locked down now. I find this time pretty frustrating and either feast or famine on the stand with no rhyme or reason to it other than getting lucky and being right place at the right time. I’ve got one or two more sits left in my NY bow season then off to Kansas Saturday for a week. Good luck to all those out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Funny how they do that! I’ve got a buck taunting me too. Last three sits for him I’ve had to watch him under one of the tree stands I’m not in and then the following day I get day light photos of him walking by the stand I was in. All I can do is laugh. Hopefully one of these days we get a chance to launch an arrow and settle the score Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Definitely would wait until the AM Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Beautiful morning! Finally starting to see some good rutting action yesterday and ready for some more today hopefully. Cams are relatively quiet, but not too surprised about that as most are on scrapes and they aren’t being hit as much now. The bucks I’m seeing are all still on their regular home ranges so don’t think much breeding has happened yet. My best guess we’ll see majority of bucks get locked down over the next few days and then a flurry of activity in a week or so when they’ve gotta start looking harder for the next doe. Peak trail cam activity for me always seems to be around 11/11 to 11/14 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Are SENY deer smaller? Ag is over rated IMO, the biggest bucks I’ve ever seen or killed are in the suburbs miles away from any crop fields. There’s less of them, but they don’t look any different than the ag fed bucks I chase I’d guess that buck you showed is 3 or 4. Hard to judge off one pic. Nice buck either way, good luck chasing him! 11. We have a massive population issue and big ag so seeing deer is pretty much a given. Very fortunate to hunt where I do Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Super slow morning. 4 small bucks and 2 does. Not sure whats going on but November has been pretty disappointing so far. Cell cams on 6 different properties relatively quiet last couple days too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Nothing meaningful to report for hunting but just want to say I had two different experiences today where a safety line protected me from serious injury. This morning I slipped off a peg climbing up and my fall protection line caught me. Then this evening my linemens belt caught me when I was setting a stand and my climbing spike came undone and gave out on me. First time I’ve ever needed a safety line and it happened twice in the same day several towns apart. Be safe guys and never go up a tree without being attached to something! 14. Whelp, ran into my shooter as I walked out to grab lunch. I had been planning to sit all day but got bored and sure enough as soon as I step into the field and have no cover out comes the buck working his way to me. Guess that’s what I get for being impatient Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I’m a little disappointed in the action this morning, deer only interested in feed, although I had a nice 3 year old 8 come by close. I was planning on sitting all day but going to go pull some cards, grab lunch and find somewhere new to sit tonight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Out in 8H. I had to make a list minute switch with the wind blowing straight south instead of the wsw my weather apps were calling for so got in a little late. Other than that been a decent am so far… couple bucks and half dozen does or so. Interestingly, not much interest from the bucks in those does. Breaking out the rattling antlers for this first time this year, hoping to catch a cruiser. Good luck to everyone out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I hunt 6-8 different properties and they all change year to year. My two best spots last year have been duds this year and my worse spot last year is the best so far this year. I’ve got zero pics or sightings of a 3+ year old buck on one property whereas last year there was at least a half dozen, including two 150+. A lot of different factors but unfortunately it happens Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Stuck working today but my cams lighting up for first time with mid day movement the last couple hours. I hunted last night and had one of my shooters at 80 yards but went the opposite direction. Will be back out tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. The best situations I’ve seen it work is when you’re sitting on the backside of thick bedding with something behind you like a river, lake, highway, etc. that you can blow your scent over and no deer can get downwind of. Bucks will have an idea where the sound is but being thick keeps them from pinpointing you and interested enough to wander through sometimes. I’ll also clip my antlers to my drop line sometimes and dangle them down on the ground to make noise at ground level. The other situation is still hunting the downwind edge of bedding, preferably with two people. I like to do that either in or right after a rain so I can be quiet and the deers senses are off a bit. Either my buddy or I set up 20-30 yards from the other and do a rattle sequence. The bucks that come in are locked on to the rattlers position so if you play it right they don’t notice you and you can get a shot. It’s a fun way to spend mid day during the rut when it’s raining. We rattled in a 160ish buck last year doing this but we got impatient after 15 minutes and literally walked into him as we were standing up so I’d recommend giving a half hour or so between sequences or moving. Difficult technique to execute imo and very high impact but few things are as exciting as having a mature buck barreling in looking for a fight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I never fault anyone for shooting a buck, regardless of what antlers it has. People should shoot what makes them happy. What makes me happy is different than the next guy and I don’t expect anyone else to hunt like I do. One isn’t right or wrong. I hope the neighbors don’t kill that buck but if they do I’ll still go over and congratulate them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. A 175, a 185 and a 190” have been killed within a mile or so of here over the last ten years and he’s much bigger than the 175 was at two so he could be something special… or he could get smoked by one of the neighbors Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Depends on your setup. If youre somewhere relatively thick and impossible for deer to sneak downwind i might do a little light rattling right now, especially if you know you have a bully buck in the area. Still too early to go all out imo, only fights I’ve seen so far are pretty light sparring. If you do rattle, I’d start with a couple grunts first and wait 15 mins just to make sure there’s nothing to close. In general I prefer to call to deer I see and aren’t coming to me rather than blind calling. I’m very picky of when and where I do it. Been burned lots over the years having a buck come in and get down wind or sense something is up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I hunted this morning and small bucks are chasing like crazy but bigger bucks still mostly focused on food with a little half ass rutting activity. Tonight probably the better hunt but I have work obligations unfortunately. On the bright side, I pulled some cards and found one of the best 2 year old I’ve seen. He’s pretty regular on cam so hopefully he doesn’t venture far. I’d love to see what he turns into Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Hunting scrapes in late October is a great strategy, especially after rain. I’ll be out in the AM doing it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Definitely second that. I seek out places that don’t allow hunting and work backwards to find the closest access. Some of my best spots are small lots that look like dog shit from an aerial map but are right next to big chunks of land with no hunting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
