27 dg nights and 33dg days makes the fur prime up the extra time you wait to take the fur makes the pealt much better..

Some folks believe that it actually has to do with shorter days. Not sure about weather, but it does seem like their "winter" coats should be pretty much developed. I took a grey fox (hunting) a few days ago with a beautiful pelt and have seen pics of others. I'll be making some K9 sets soon too. Good luck!

It is a proven study that weather has nothing to do with it. Its the shorter daylight hours that makes the fur prime. Astudy was done during the summer with mink. By controling the amount of daylight they saw, it made the fur prime...not the weather.

Yep. I used to think it was due to colder weather up until a few years ago when some oldtimers mentioned shorter days.

To a certain degree the cold is needed cause why do muskrats and beaver prime late Dec January..... mink are first to prime anyway so IMO both are needed for quality pealt

Absolutely not..shorter days prime fur
